Buzz builds for ECW show

June 5, 2005

BY BLACKJACK BROWN

Finally, the ECW "One Night Stand'' pay-per-view is taking shape, and WWE is making up for lost time and flexing some promotional muscle. Five matches officially have been announced for the June 12 show, including Lance Storm (with Dawn Marie) facing Chris Jericho, Rey Mysterio taking on Psychosis, Eddie Guerrero battling Chris Benoit, Tajiri vs. Super Crazy vs. Little Guido in a three-way dance, and in a battle of some of the biggest stars in ECW history, the returning Dudley Boyz meeting the team of Sandman and Tommy Dreamer. Many other big names from ECW's past have been confirmed for the show, including Rob Van Dam, who said he has healed enough from knee surgery to maybe even get in the ring. Van Dam was told in January that he would be out of action for six to 12 months. Let's hope the suits in Stamford don't ruin the show by having an Eric Bischoff-led invasion of ECW take away from what could be a classic night.

AROUND THE RING: The only announced match so far for Vengeance is Triple H vs. Batista ... Shawn Michaels is recovering from a fairly significant knee injury and has not set a timetable for a return. ... WWE basically has decided to put the women's division on hold while Trish Stratus and Lita recover from injuries

RVD recently criticised the planning of the show and the participation of non-ECW competitors (Bischoff and friends).

Regardless, I don't see how the matches can not be good, unless they're overbooked. Hoepfully Tajiri/Super Crazy/Guido will give Vince and indication that people do care about cruisers.

If Van Dam can wrestle he should DEFINITELY face Jerry Lynn. My God would that be awesome.

what are they doing for music? Didnt Heyman just jack songs without a care. And hopefully wwe lets them run their mouths again
Yeah, they used to just use whatever they wanted, copyright be damned. I HOPE WWE have shelled out to buy the rights to the music they used to us.

It Should Be A Good Show, BUT The PPV wont Have Raven, Or Shane Douglas. Cause Of Their Contracts with TNA.

The PPV will Be Ruined If The "RAW an Smackdown Invasion Does Happen".

when is this happening?
This Sunday.

does anyone know what happened to New Jack?
He was going to make an appearance at ONS, probably to come down and beat the shit out of the invading WWE guys, but due to some legal issues in New York he apparently can't.

By the way, commentary will apparently be Joey Styles and Mick Foley. They NEEDED to get Styles, wouldn't have been the same without him.

i think i'll probably get this, i haven't watched wrestling for nearly a year and a half, it got extremely gay for awhile, and nobody had really good characters or gimmicks, but ECW is pure pimpness.
