Bubba Sparxxx responds to 'booty' attacks

#1
As previously reported, Bubba Sparxxx recently came under scrutiny for launching a competition with his new single ‘Ms New Booty’.

Censorship groups were unhappy with the promotion that asks girls to take photos of their own ‘booty’ to secure a spot in Bubba’s next video. They argued that because his music is directed towards teens and that the competition website has one-click links to Girls Gone Wild, Sparxxx is essentially supplying pornography to children.

Well now Sparxxx has commented on the accusations. "It's for the clubs. It's for females to feel good about. It's for men to feel good about. There's nothing negative going on about it,” he said to allhiphop.com. “I'm a little hurt that anyone could take offence to this song. It's all about that new chick that's been hurt and making her the best she can be. You put the word 'booty' on there and every body says it's disrespect."

"Ms. New Booty to me, is about a woman who exudes confidence and does her thing with a swagger that's unique to her and only her," he explained. "You take a woman, she's a flower waiting to bloom. Sometimes you meet a woman, a woman that maybe most people don't see her beauty. You know with some adjustments you can bring her beauty out."

These comments might not be enough for the anti-booty movement sparked by IndustryEars.com. "The government fails to arrest or acknowledge these corporate child predators," according to Paul Porter and Lisa Fager, writers at Industry Ears. "The Federal Communications Commission states, 'It is illegal to broadcast sexually explicit content between 6am -10pm daily.' Meanwhile the 'Ms. New Booty' contest is promoted on radio between the most listened to times for 12-17 year olds (6pm-10pm). The internet has pornographic websites, now radio stations that target the youngest demographic help and direct children straight to them."

Although the competition website recently introduced an 18+ pop-up warning, if these comments circulate further, Sparxxx and Virgin Records may have to offer an explanation that goes beyond a simple analysis of lyrical content.

The competition at www.msnewbooty.com is still in operation.

lol, have you guys checked out this web site?
I can see the harm in advertising to young children, but don't see anything wrong with the website. It's not like they forced those girls to send in those picks. If you got it, flaunt it.
