Non-Urban Music Britney Spears

OK now I don't know why its taken me this long before I posted a thread about Britney considering I've been a fan of hers since I heard 'Baby One More Time'.

Thought I would make this thread for ppl to post likes and dislikes about Mrs Britney Federline.

Tell us what your worst/fave singles/albums are, what you consider her most outrageous moments to be, her most respected moments - things of this nature - dicuss everything about her!

I'll start off by saying I have all her albums and until she released 'In The Zone' my favourite album was her self titled 'Britney', when I first heard this album I really liked it because you could feel how much she had grown as an artist from 'Baby One More Time'. I loved the track she did with Justin Timberlake 'What It's Like To Be Me' and liked 'I'm Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman'. But when she released 'In The Zone' that became my fave album and I also love 'My Perogative - Greatest Hits' cus it's got a selection of everything and a real sense of how her music changed through personal growth.

I went to see Britney last May in Manchester, and my friends and I stayed at the Lowry Hotel where she was actually staying and we got to meet and chat with her bodyguards, who are just so great and chilled out its unreal, we were outside our room when Britney walked down the corridor with her assitant and she was doing a voice warm up, was sooo funny, and she actually apologised to us for sounding terrible and said that she hoped we had a great time (by this point the bodyguards practically knew our life stories)! She seemed really friendly and she looked amazing in 'real life'.

She gets alot of shit from the media about not looking good and its really irritating because most of the time she looks fab so what if she has a few bad days - don't we all?

Anyways I've prattled on enough - can't wait to see her and Kevin's show though it starts this month on E4 :D

I remember her first album and i had a thing for her when i first saw the video clip.
Honestly right now i don't like her one bit, but that said the in zone album was a great album and everytime was one of my favourite tracks off it (though radio killed it).

I really like hewr, she has done a few songs which i haven't really liked (Mostly the slow one like not yet a girl) but i think she has grown as an artist since the days of her 1st album!

She always gets stick in the press, and there are people who look worse than her. So what if sometimes she looks rough - i know i do sometimes!

I can't wait for the new programme on e4 either :)

I dont have anything against her music wise, it's not my kind of thing and I leave it at that. I dont agree or disagree with her "angel one day, slut the next" image - I did find it odd though. She paved the way for a lot of aspiring young female artists, and I suppose that is good even though none of them appeal to me.

lol i like that t-shirt!!!

Her show better not suck, I've been waiting to see it for a while now.

I don't understand why ppl think she's a slut? Just because of her appearance? Or do you actually thinks she sleeps with lots of different random guys?

Its easy to say I don't like her, she's a slut but at least explain it lol

Hey Amara - I like that phrase 'Angel One Day, Slut the next' - maybe that would look good on a t-shirt

Newlyweds I liked alot, I mean if Nick Lachey wants to walk around half naked I ain't gonna be turning the show off anytime soon. Plus Jessica had a few hilarious moments. So yeah I found it fun to watch.

Don't even tell me about Britney and Kevin's show though, I wanna watch and make my own mind up :)

well, she didnt write her music when she was really successful (dont know if she did it on her last album), voice wise she isnt great...only part where i would show her respect is as an entertainer.

person wise, as far as i can say, i dont like her at all: stupid comments, the whole virgin thing, marriage for 48 hours, annoying laugh, etc...

i liked some of her songs though

i think her last album was her only album that she actually wrote the lyrics for except like 1 or 2 songs. i remember her saying that in an mtv interview. and the one before that she only wrote like 1 song.

most of the time when i see her on tv, i just hit the mute button. i cant stand her. what message is she sending to the youth? it's ok to fuck a person for 2 days straight after getting married in vegas, then when you sober up its ok to act like nothing happend and get the marriage annulled? how come no one ever brings up the fact that mr gold digger what ever his name is, already has 2 kids? is she trying to tell young girls to go out and marry white trash? she is a liar and i dont know why people still support her. everyone should let her fade away in her double wide trailor with her dumb ass husband that would leave her in a second to pregnate jessica simpson.

Wow, where does this thread come from? Let's say I don't really care about her, for me she's just an other MTV artist. U know, a popstar. Looking good - that's enough 2 sell records anyway. I don't like her any better then any other pop artist. And with pop artist I don't mean actually a music style but everyone that is selling mostly 2 15 year old girls without a brain. :p
I can't help it but I like deeeep music.

Sarah, did you see her great movie? :D

To me popular music is separated into three ways:

1) The actual music sound, that people dance to and "like the beat" and "like to party to," or a regular song that has guitars or whatever, some alternative and rock music

2) The voice is a musical instrument, people who can sing good, amazing songs like a piano can play good sounds, and

3) the words are poetic such that they are the most important thing in music. Like a poem, they are expressing feeling and emotion.

Britney Spears falls under number 1 after attempting to be a number 2. She can't sing but she can dance and put her voice along a great dance beat voila she has a hit song. That's how she sells records. This is the mentality of every club song or typical radio song made popular by "pop" artists. Not that these are bad, but unlike number three, they have no poetic significance to be taken seriously. Some number ones are good because they are combined with number three. People who can't really sing but are giving us good instrumentals with a poetic message.

Number 2 is Mariah and Kelly Clarkson and Christina Aguilera. They can all sing and make the song beautiful just because they can hit those notes outta the park.

Number three is HipHop and much of singers unlike number 2 but have some important poetic lyricism. A lot of rock artists are number 3 but also number one because they can play instruments.

Overall Britney is unintentionally putting pressure on young girls to do stupid shit. It's not her fault. I think that since the media is obsessed with every move she makes, relaying info to her fans, the media is at fault somewhat. The fans are also stupid for reading tabloids and following her every move as their model.
But I don't see how anyone can take her music seriously. Maybe if you want to dance, but you can't relate to it in your heart like your real music should be.

Peace.
