Emo isn't a genre. And it's not "him" it's a "group".

The lead singer is Connor Oberst. A very talented song writer indeed. And has been often compared to Bob Dylan.

I'm not tryin to come off as a prick Frank, I'm just setting some things straight. And yes.. I do recommend Bright Eyes to anyone. The music may not be everyones cup of tea, but if you're looking for something new and different, give Bright Eyes a chance.

Peace

Bright Eyes = Conor Oberst.

He records with a band and tours with them, but he IS them, basically. On the Digital Ash in a Digital Urn, The Faint was his band in addition to opening act.

"First Day of My Life" is one of my favorite songs this year, but overall I'm not a big fan of Bright Eyes. I guess that's because I was paying attention when kids were calling him the next Dylan and it rubbed me the wrong way, because he's not even close.

I do think he's horribly overhyped and put up on a pedestal by a lot of people. I enjoy some of his songs, but his look-at-how-much-emotion-i-can-put-into-my-voice-without-actually-bursting-into-tears style of singing gets on my nerves after a while.
