it has always been my understanding that political cartoons are ment to be offensive
cartoons political and non are made all the time about all types of religions. but you dont see christians, jews, or any other religion getting their thongs in a bunch. its just a cartoon.
seriously some people need to pull their skirts up:thumb:[/QUOTE]
The thing is that they wanted charicatures of only Muhammad, singling out a group that is already taking a lot of heat n Denmark. They also did this knowing that even drawing an image of Muhammad is considered very disrespectful, imagine how offensive a charicature is.
It was nothing short of an attack on Islam.

i guess i should boycott fox...and seth mcfarlane even though they make me laugh
If it offended you, you should. But I guess we see things differently, to me it seems like Jyllands-Posten basically did this with the intention to offend muslims. IMO they deserve to be condemned for that.PuffnScruff said:islam and arabic nations all over are in the news all the time now. that is a fact. it is also a fact that political cartoons poke fun of what is going on in the world today.
i just saw a cartoon image of god and jesus on a family guy episode. omgi guess i should boycott fox...and seth mcfarlane even though they make me laugh

The funny thing is that if anything happend and you trying to run away from you just label it under FREEDOM OF SPPECH. Insulting out beloved Prophet is not a freedom of sppech. Never was and never will be. Let's forget about the fuckin Danish for a while. How about Norway? do you know when did they repost them nasty drawings? It was at the day that Muslims celebrate there Holiday (Eid). It clearly shows the hate toward Muslims. I remember what a Scottish friend told me "I never knew that we were arrogant closed minded tell i left my home".
Ok then i guess that we need to express ourselfes without anybody stoping us right?PuffnScruff said:no, your wrong. insults fall under freedom of speech. just because it offends you and you do not like it, does not mean it's not freedom of speech. or in this case, freedom to draw whatever the fuck they want.

Then Bin Laden and his crew have the right to do what they want to do coz it's FREEDOM OF ACTION.
If Insults to more than 1.3 Billion is considered freedom of speech then why not Consider what Bin laden's do as a freedom of action?PuffnScruff said:just because they can and have done what they want to do, doesn't mean they are right in their actions. i wouldnt call it freedom of action. maybe murder would be correct word to use.
you might want to copyright "freedone of action" your the first person i have ever seen say that.

RFTP said:No it doesn't, it also clearly states that the right can be withdrawn under differnet circumstances, such as threat for your own life etc. It's the same rule that apply all kind of rights, they can be withdrawn whenever it's neccesary (which is why we have police and a court of law etc)
