BMW vs. Mercedes-Benz

If you really need a German car I'd go for Audi.

Here mostly village people drive BMWs and Mercedes these days - usually 10 year old and so. It just screams "look at me, I have a BMW!".
That's probably because they are really cheap here thanks to the German boarder so everyone who wants to feel cooler than he is and wants to buy a cheap car goes for them.
But they are utterly overrated worldwide. The only thing I like about them is that they are comfortable.

However personally I'd rather get a Honda, Suzuki, Toyota (well, maybe not right now), Nissan. Great engines, reliable, economical.

I see freaking Hondas 8h a day im sick of them I have a Toyoyo now so far i dont have any sticki icky problem with it. Yeah i know every wankster have a Beemer in Poland.

even a Yugo would get you pussy in Powell, Ohio so no need to worry.
