Birmingham riots (England)

^so what if it turns out to be true. What has someones religious background got to do with their crimes. Why expect more from a muslim (those that are in name only). Are you insinuating that if atheists or people of other religious backgrounds did this then you wouldn't be surprised? Don't you believe that moral appeals can be made to an atheist/Christian/agnostic?

Truth be told, i've been looking for this 'muslim arrogance' lately and your a perfect example. Now, a knee jerk response from you would label me as Islamophobe or a 'sell out' or apologist. But in reality being a muslim doesn't automatically qualify you as a beacon of justice and highly principled individual. That has to be attained.

They're muslims, they did it, it was wrong, but Islam has got nothing to do with it.

It all started wen sum Jamaican girl went 2 sum paki shop n she robbed summin n they grabbed her n took her around the bak n called nex manz up n they all raped her but therz no proof the incident actually happend
Chances are it didn't happen... awhile ago there was a riot a few counties away from here, someone made up a lie saying that a policeman ran over a black guy, they said there was blood all over his windshield and shit like that, which was obviously untrue. That started a riot, a buncha blacks were burning down houses and hurting white people, one threw a brick through a car window and hit an 8 year old girl. Most riots start by people who are just begging for some action in their lives.

You can draw a comparison between the [South] Asians in the UK and the [East] Asians or the Jews in America. Groups which came to their respective countries, many because of persecution, and rallied together to build their community up. They all share a strong work ethic.

The prevalence of Jewish lawyers or bankers in the United States is somewhat mirrored by the prevalence of Asian doctors in the United Kingdom.

They're what are referred to as 'model minorities'.

Naturally other ethnic groups see this success and suffer from envy. They makes excuses as to the success of these groups (see: "Jew World Order"-type conspiracies) and conflict like this occurs.

no im actually flat out sayin i could give two shits about someone else doing it, of course it would be just as bad im not saying it would make it any better or worse for someone else to commit this atrocious crime, me being a muslim as im sure i have pointed out, i have noticed that single entitys be it positive or negative are viewed as entire religions nowadays, plus it hits home alot more too (makes u more conscious when someone similar to yourself does something wrong, and also you feel labelled with the same group, because u share the same skin color, belief, or whatever the media would like to associate the criminals with) and because islam already has a bad rap, coupled with the media looking for any muslims to villify, these ppl will get labelled as 'muslim rapists'
not just bad evil ppl, but islamic rapists or something similar.

the bottom line is that whether these ppl were 'loyal' or 'true' muslims is not the point here, the point is that they will automatically be labelled with the muslim tag, simply because they come from that background.

see what i mean paul ^^

the real story ??

'Rivals started riot rape rumour'
Crowds gathered outside the beauty shop last week
The owner of a shop where a teenage girl was allegedly raped, sparking riots in Birmingham, says it was just a rumour to harm his business.
Ajaib Hussein, who owns the Beauty Queens salon in Perry Barr, told BBC Asian Network he believes the rumour was started by commercial rivals.
The rape allegation was broadcast on a pirate radio station, but police say no crime has been reported to them.
Two men have died since rioting flared in Lozells on Saturday evening.
Officers from West Midlands Police have conducted a forensic examination of the beauty salon.
I have lost my business, I have lost my respect with my family and friends
Ajaib Hussein
Mr Hussein told the BBC on Monday he plans to re-open his shop "as soon as possible".
He said: "Basically some business people tried to spoil my business and tried to misguide their own public and community against me.
"It has affected me badly. I have lost my business, I have lost my respect with my family and friends.
"My family and friends are stressed but it is stressful throughout our community not only family and friends - in the Asian and black community.
"It is all a business problem. I tried to do my best and I tried to sell my stuff very cheap and that's why the people cannot take it
"They are just playing politics and spoiling my business.
Fatal shooting
"The police interviewed us and let us go and they told my solicitor nothing happened like that in that kind of place (the salon)."
West Midlands Police said it is a matter for traders when they re-open their shops, although they began liaising with shops in Perry Barr and Lozells when the trouble started.
A spokesman said they had always treated the allegation as serious, but no victim has come forward.
During the violence on Saturday one man was stabbed to death by a gang of up to 11 men, after returning home from the cinema.
A second man was shot dead on Sunday in Newtown, near to the scene of further rioting.
Two men have been arrested over the shooting in the Newtown area, but police do not yet know if it is linked to the weekend violence.

Two Held Over Stabbing

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of murdering a bystander during last weekend's riots in Birmingham.

West Midlands Police said the suspects, aged 22 and 25 and both from Birmingham, had been detained in connection with the death of Isiah Young-Sam.

Mr Young-Sam, 23, was killed last Saturday during clashes in the Lozells area of the city which saw more than 30 people put in hospital.

"Two men, aged 22 and 25, have been arrested this afternoon on suspicion of murder and are currently in police custody," a West Midlands Police spokesman said.

Mr Young-Sam, an IT worker for Birmingham City Council, was stabbed in the chest as he walked home along Carlyle Road, Lozells, with his younger brother and two friends.

He had been to watch a film at a cinema in Birmingham city centre and had caught a bus back to the neighbouring Perry Barr area.

Officers believe Mr Young-Sam, described by his mother as gentle and deeply religious, was attacked by a gang of up to 11 thugs who emerged from three cars.

Saturday's disorder, which involved Asian and black youths, followed a meeting held at a church in the area to reassure the community about the a rumoured sex attack.

The unsubstantiated claim is that the girl, an illegal immigrant from Jamaica, was raped by several men after being caught shoplifting from a store owned by Asians.

The owner of the shop at the centre of the rumours has dismissed the allegations, claiming they were spread by a pirate radio station.

Police have so far found no evidence to support them.
