Film & TV Batman vs. Superman, again?

#1
Now that Superman has returned, what menace will he battle next? That's the big question in Hollywood this week, and since Brandon Routh was discovered in casting sessions for a once-planned "Batman vs. Superman" flick, rumors of the blockbuster smackdown have been resurrected.

"I was at a party recently; Hugh Jackman had a benefit at his house," "Superman Returns" director Bryan Singer said. "I went there, and Christian Bale was there, and I suddenly felt like Brandon should be there too. I had all these superheroes around me." Routh added that while he enjoyed sparring verbally with "Batman" star Bale recently at the MTV Movie Awards, he'd prefer to see the two heroes work together.

"I don't think we should go toe-to-toe, unless one of us is deranged somehow by some mind-altering drug," he laughed. "We shouldn't be fighting each other; we should be combining forces." Singer said he'd consider directing a "Batman vs. Superman" flick, but only after the Man of Steel establishes his identity a bit more thoroughly. "I've thought about it for a long time — even a longer time ago, actually," the director revealed. "But I don't know who would be the villain. I guess Batman would be the villain, but then he can't be too bad, because he is Batman. So not quite yet. ... I think Superman needs to have his own movies for a little while before that happens."

Either way, Singer insisted that "everybody's excited to do more ... and I'm sure we'll do another one." And Routh had this word of warning for Bale: "I don't think Batman really, really wants to go and mess with Superman." ...

Ya i dont think i like it either.

a little too early for this, but they have to make this one down the road soon.
That was one of the original ideas for the movie, apparently Kevin Smith was doing a script based on the "Death Of Superman" series before he was fired and another director/screenwriter were brought on. its a shame too, cuz that probably would have been better than the Superman movie we did get, which was mediocre at best. As for Superman Vs. Batman, i really hope they don't go that route, but they probably will

lame idea, making batman a bad guy. I swear they are the ones that help found the justice league there would be no ryhme or reason to have them fight plus batman would win because superman gave him some kryptonite just incase he went mad...i have the comic book somehwere.

Yes, for a long, long time Warner Bros. was trying to make a "Death of Superman" film, and it just kept getting worse, there was a script where just before he dies, he impregnates Lois, who later gives birth, and dies in the process. And their kid grows up to become the new Superman. It sucked. Kevin Smith's script was pretty lame also, but I don't blame him alot, I blame mostly the producer who bought the rights to make a Superman film, and knew nothing about the character, or what he was about. Trying to make it more of a Superman meets Star Wars type of film. However, I did like the little Batman cameo he threw in there. Then Tim Burton signs on to do it, which was a HORRIBLE choice, and he then casts Nicolas Cage to play Clark Kent/Superman, and I've seen some story boards of what Burton's Superman would have looked like, and wow, it was just atrocious. They shouldn't go that route, It wouldn't be unexpected, if he died, you would know it the entire time, and of course he would come back, so then what's the point? The second one should have Brainiac in it, and hopefully it's more like the Brainiac of the the late 90's animated series. I keep hearing the Superman movie didn't suck all together, it was just disappointing, and more of a re-hash of the original and it's first sequel. I haven't seen it yet, I was waiting for the crowds to die down, and now they probably have.

^^^i was just gonna say the same thing. it should be "S&B" not "SvB". anyways, the title "SvB" would just make it another throwaway piece of crap.

i mean it could be done in a way that makes sense, like have them team up to take on some superpowerful enemy and somehow along the way they end up turning on each other. but it's still a bad idea that shouldn't happen, but probably will

If anything, have a brand new villian with super-man type powers who is under the control of a Batman villian like The Riddler or Joker. That way after Batman realizes he can't beat the Joker/Riddler and the new villian by himself he seeks help from Superman. I'd like to see it end with the possibility of one dying. Though he doesn't die just disappears, maybe Superman.

Comes back with the blue skin and black suite.

peace.

I could've sworn that Brandon Routh was discovered in casting call tapes/screen tests for Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle that McG had (back when McG was attached to direct, but thankfully backed out cuz he didn't want to fly to Australia). Perhaps I'm utterly wrong.

Anywhoo, I'm having the same thoughts I had the first time I heard about WB pushing this idea: lame. Doesn't matter if Batman and Superman work as a team or go against each other.

I did enjoy the animated movie that came out a few years ago, though.
