Barabus TKR... 0-60 in 1.67 seconds

formula 1 race cars only have 2.4-litre V8s and around 200hp. i would think this car can do 0-60 faster.

Nice, damn. Kind of looks like a cross between a Zonda and a Saleen S7.

A lot more than 200 :) Try 800. Still, this thing will probably be faster in a straight line. Nowai it'll catch up in the twisties though.

Still impressive. The engine is horrendously powerful.

says around 200hp on the f1 website. other sites say 720 to 750hp. very nice car btw :thumb:

200 per litre maybe. Today's F1 cars couldnt do what they do with only 200

This ride is made in my home town. Ive heard the engine running, before it was dumped under the bonnet.... Amazing!...

Althought it is faster than the veyron... it doesnt have the same technology as the veyron...

therefore... i think this car would only be suited to professional drivers....

and does that mean this thing hits 60 in first gear??? that's fuckin amazing right?
Probably, but supercars hitting 60 mph in first gear isn't anything new. I know the McLaren F1 did that, so did the Saleen S7, and I think the Ferrari Enzo does too. It's one of the things that makes them so quick to 60.

you know what the highest anyone's ever hit in first gear??? cuz i remember around my area there was a car show, and there was a viper with a supercharger and twin turbos giving it around 1200hp, and it could hit 90 in first gear...at least from what i was told

Engine power outputs in Formula One racing are also a fascinating insight into how far the sport has moved on. In the 1950s Formula One cars were managing specific power outputs of around 100 bhp / litre (about what a modern 'performance' road car can manage now). That figure rose steadily until the arrival of the 'turbo age' of 1.5 litre turbo engines, some of which were producing anything up to 750 bhp / litre. Then, once the sport returned to normal aspiration in 1989 that figure fell back, before steadily rising again. The 'power battle' of the last few years saw outputs creep back towards the 1000 bhp barrier, some teams producing more than 300 bhp / litre in 2005, the final year of 3 litre V10 engines. From 2006, the regulations require the use of 2.4 litre V8 engines, with power outputs likely to fall around 20 percent.

Yeah, how fast you go in 1st gear doesn't matter a damn bit. It is all about gear ratios. 90mph in first? He probaly has some top speed ratio in there (aka overdrive) and that would mean the gears would give very little torque multiplication, so thats unlikely. In other words, that is not true about 90mph in first gear. Judging how fast a car is by its top speed in first gear means nothing. Hell I don't even use first gear in my car, does that mean its super crazy? LOL

F1 cars are amazing and I hope one day I will be privelaged enough to work on them.

PS. A new rx8 will do 90 in 3rd gear.

yeah, i never really got the concept of gear ratios...i looked on wikipedia...and that one other site..how stuff works.com?? maybe im jus thick..

Shorter gears (bigger ratios) = more torque = more acceleration
Longer gears (smaller ratios ie. input gear turns 2 turns for every half of turn of the output gear) = higher top speeds, slower acceleration.

hmm...makin sense... takes a while to get to top speed with longer gears though, right???

and if you're just an everyday driver, but still want some zip in your car, the shortest ratio the best?? since you're not gonna be going that fast?

Yes it takes longer time to reach speed with longer gears.

You want both. You don't want to be cruising at highway speeds and be at like 5k.
If you want acceleration you can ussually make a good compromise. But some transmissions you will end up in 5th gear during a drag race, which ussually sucks.
