Reminiscent of Ice Cube’s richly textured voice, Bad Lucc (whose government name is Terence Harden) is the by far the rawest emcee to evolve from the streets of Los Angeles.
Bad Lucc was introduced to hip-hop through the influence of his older sister. “My sister wrote my first rap when I was 10 years old. I performed it at a get-together in front of family and friends and their reaction was like no other. I owe her my life.” Bad Lucc worked diligently to hone his writing skills and went on to write his first rap in 1995 after becoming intrigued by a couple of his closest friends as they performed in a battle at the high school lunch tables. “They were just so dope I had to get down”, he proclaims.
From that point, he began to blaze a trail in the underground rap arena by battling and defeating all of his competitors. He quickly earned massive street credibility and respect from numerous urban-driven record labels and famed artists such as Jadakiss and Swiss Beats. Bad Lucc had suddenly become “David” and he hurled lyrical stones at the “Goliaths” of mainstream rap.
In a time where all rap artists, both truthfully and untruthfully, profess to be cultivated by a “hard knock life”, Bad Lucc circumvents the common topics of guts, glory, and war stories and zeros in on issues relative to all walks of life while maintaining a hood rich edge by projecting his attention-grabbing flow. Bad Lucc’s signature style transcends the typecast that artists originating from the west coast lack such clever rhapsody as exhibited by rappers of other regions. He is now unequivocally a seasoned performer who effortlessly spits some of the most witty and prolific lyrics known to man. In the years since the inception of his love affair with hip-hop, Bad Lucc continues to pay homage to the streets from whence he came.
“The streets made me. Now they have to listen. From the block to the boardroom, I’m coming and L.A.’s got my back. I can’t let them down”.
