My western civilzation teacher told me that it was a myth and if it was suspected that it was the bermuda traingle or islands that were never discovered, I don't know if I believe her but its what she had to say.

The Bermuda Triangle isn't that mysterious at all.

a: It's a very large area
b: It's a very busy area with lots of ships going through that area
c: It's rough sea, known for tropical storms
d: A lot of disappearances have been misattributed to the Bermuda Triangle, but actually occurred outside of that area
e: A lot of ships have disappeared in the Bermuda Triangle, but then shown up later on

It's an ignorant association to make. Slap her.

There is no mystery to Bermuda, on the ocean floor sometimes(keyword) gas hydrates release gas, and when too much gas is released it causes a low density in the water, thus causing ships to sink.

The phenomenon you are describing in fact happens quite often especially during seismic exploration when the shot from the ship hits a gas pocket under the surface of the sea and gas is released up. When the gas reaches the ship above it, the ship falls through it as the water density is lowered.

However, this doesn’t explain the other mysteries around the triangle, such as planes disappearing, ships disappearing and then reappearing and other weird stuff like that.

If I had to make an assumption I would say the triangle had some sort of magnetic effect that knocked out navigational equipment. But I have no idea, as I haven’t really ever looked into it all that much, but the gas pocket explanation, while valid, just doesn’t explain away the mysteries of the Bermuda triangle.

Atlantis is very interesting because an Atlantis like legend is present in a lot of our culture and religion, from the Greek mythology to Egyptian belief to Christianity, Judaism and Islam through Noah's flood. In fact if you study Christianity and similar religions, a lot of their traditions relate back to Atlantis, and these is even belief and evidence that the man Jesus of Nazareth had knowledge from this ancient preflood civilization passed down to him through his royal David blood line (to which Noah also belonged as did John the Baptist) which directly related to ancient Egyptian religions based around Osiris and Atlantis.

It really is an interesting subject to research and shows how everything is connected back through the tree of time and religion to one central trunk or core.

To the best of my knowledge no-one has as yet come up with a definitive account of it's whereabouts.
