they aren't! but people who believe them (i don't) can conclude logically the existence of aliens. but even if someone believes prophesies, visions and weeping statues, there's no logic that will lead you to say that god exits.
so theoretically, proving the credibility of alien abduction will prove the existence of aliens.
But prooving that a statue can weep, or that people can see visions doesn''t prove that god exists.

no one can reject categorically the existance of something he doesn't understand, why dn't you tell me yor definition of God, and i tell you why it doesn't exist. I always say i can t believe in God as seen by other people.
for example, most people say God exiss because there has to be a creator. i m willing to acccept that, but that doesn't in anyway mean that god is good, forgiving, or that it's even a conscious entity. for all i know, God could be the big bang

Alright. First, searching the internet for information is just ridiculous. For example. I put in jesus. Scolled some pages and here JESUS FAVORS MORE GOVERNMENT HANDOUTS FOR WELFARE CHEATS. Next. Everyone that has a religious belief has a right to their opinion. As far as I'm concerned, we're all fucking brainwashed. We all are on a site that was once "2pacboard" because we all thought 2pac was great. Society told us that his lyrics and reputation alone could throw him into a league of his own. We are told what to like, when to like it, how we'll like it, etc. All of us are brainwashed alright?!
Religion is more of a "State of mind" to me. If you are a religious person then you will likely take things better than non religious people. I'm not saying athiests are stupid and can't deal with their own problems. Thats not it at all. I'm saying that religion provides you with "answers" and gives you an opinion to go by. You don't really find the answers yourself or form your own opinion. Most automatically decide "God did this for me". Believe me, God has better things to do than make your ex boyfriend talk to you or to make your dogs leg heal.
In conclusion. I will add that I believe that it is selfish and almost heartless to force religion on someone. Or to even say "Do you believe in God?". It is offensive to some that do believe and a completely stupid question to those that don't. Either way, it ends in an argument. So just don't force it and don't ask somebody to be "Saved" for God's sake. If God wants them saved, he'll save'em. Alright?

my explanation checks out with that definition perfectly. the giraffes with shorter necks were less suited for their environment, so they died. and the longer-necked giraffes transmitted "THEIR GENETIC CHARACTERISTICS IN INCREASING NUMBERS TO SUCCEEDING GENERATIONS". which is exactly what the hell i said. so don't talk to me like i'm some fucking moron.

if you are willing to have an intelligent conversation, and actually BACK UP your statements, like other people on this board, regardless of their stance on the matter, then maybe we can have an actual debate. but as of right now, i'm going to ignore any other pointless comments you have to say.

First off, I'm not an athiest, I thought I made that clear or did you not read the whole post? And how does saying that spitting out rhetoric bible verses is pointless give athiest a bad name? Explain that please.

How did my post prove I was an ass? Becuase someone felt it neccesary to provide us with some religious quote expecting it to hold any importance? That is the example of a religiously brainwashed person. Someone who argues for the bible by using quotes from it. That is the person that most athiests shun.

And it's obvious you didn't read my whole post, my post made much more of a contribution to this thread then either yours or that kid who put in the religious quote.

Not only that, but I do respect HIS opinion. I don't respect him throwing religious quotes at me. I don't respect that at all. So had he simply stated his opinion, I would not have said anything. I didn't disrespect his opinion at all.

Although I agree with you on the fact that all of us our brainwashed(that was the point I was trying to make in my very first post in this thread), I disagree that religious people will take things "better". That is waaay to subjective, its not even an argueable point. I also agree that it is pointless to shove religion down someones throat, and I also agree that it is pointless for an athiest to shove anti-religious messages down a religious persons throat. I do it in retaliation if Im being forced with religion, but otherwise I disagree with inciting a religious arguement.

You don't believe in God. You don't bind yourself with "bible morals". You create your own. You have your own opinions.
Now, you have a sister. You close. Best friends even. You go to school one day and your having a horrible day. You walk home with a fellow "athiest" friend (not saying you are athiest, just for the sake of the scenario). When you get home your mom is crying and tells you that your sister was hit by a car and died instantly. Your friend tries to help. He tells you "I'm sorry man.. really.". He's there for you and tells you it'll all be ok.

Same scenario except your now a christian. Your friends very religious. He tells you "It's ok. She's with God now. She has no pain anymore.". You have the same beliefs. While you probably will hurt just as long, it's easier to deal with knowing that your sister is now in a "Better place".

Now do you get what I'm saying by that?

Besides that I know a lot of christians that after shit like that happens, they would question God or be upset with her, so God can sometimes be turned into the enemy sort of.

Of course the "mourning" itself isn't easier. But it has a different effect. For example. My grandpa is a VERY religious man. His wife of 40-something years died. He didn't even shed a tear. All he said was "My angel's with our father now.". And since that day, he has yet to get depressed. Of course I'm sure he gets a sudden urge to set down and think back. Making him a bit sad. But he ALWAYS bounces back with "well she's in God's house now." and goes on about his day with a smile.

I know not every person can be like that. Believe me, I know I wouldn't be if my wife died. But it does seem to have an effect on a persons emotions and mentality when they honestly believe that "it's better this way".

True. But the firm religious followers won't question. Those are the ones I'm talking about here. Those that follow because "its right" or "they should", whatever the case. I know they aren't as determined that it's good as a firm religious believer would.

if you're religious, then you believe when someone dies, they go to a better place (heaven, the afterlife, whatever...). and therefore, you should be happy for them, not sad.

mourning is never because you feel sorry for the person that died. it's because you feel sorry for yourself because you'll never be able to see that person again.

and for that reason, i don't think it really matters what you believe in when somebody dies. because you're still going to miss that person just as much either way.

Im not really an athiest, more of an agnostic, but I admit the possibility of God, and the possibility of aliens, and the possibility of Zues and Athena, I admit the possibility of Ra and Isis and all that. But basing your life and decisions around something that you can even be slightly sure of? I could never do that.
