Astros ask Jeff Bagwell to retire

Fuck that! Bagwell couldn't even get the best of 2005 to play fulltime !The Astros need to keep him on the roster ACTIVE!
Bagwell isn't excited about the trip, and he's not ready to quit playing.

"There's no question in my mind I can hit," he told the paper. "It's whether or not I can throw for a full season. Everything has gone exactly the way I thought it should. I'm getting stronger. Am I able to throw 120 feet? No. Am I making progress? Very much so.

"I'm going to try and play baseball at spring training. There's no getting around that. Unless something major happens, I'll be there."

wow, dude cant even throw 120 feet? shit haha

then again hes probably still in better physical shape than david ortiz :D

ah, ortiz just hits the freakin ball and its got enough distance to be a homerun, or flies high enough so he can get a double all while he's jogging....so leave ortiz outta this...he's a big guy anyways...who would be able to run around for nine innings at his size??

and if the astros lost bagwell, they def. wont be a contending team again...they lost clemens definetly....he's not gonna wait till may to sign with his old team again...so bein a cubs fan, i want bagwell to retire.....makes the division much easier to get.....cards the only thing standing in the way...

i like taking cheapshots at Red Sox, what can i say?

bagwell wont make THAT much of a difference, i mean he barely plays anymore due to injuries, the thing is just that he's done so much for the team over his career and its a shame that they want to force one of the top 10 1st basemen of all time to retire

that too....but he could have made a difference...he's def. an upgrade over the 1B they have right now....bagwell, even if he wasnt healthy, would get 25 hrs and about 70-90 rbis...somewhere in that range.....i think he woulda made a difference...

last year he had 3 homers and 19 RBI in exactly 100 at-bats with a .250 BA

project is out to a full season and its about 17 homers and 103 RBI

not bad, but not great
