I was thinking of going to the Cinema later on and this looks about the only decent thing showing. Is it any good? I've seen the Original from 1976 Directed by John Carpenter and I thought that was a good film, does the new one differ much or is it pretty much the same?

Yeah I haven't seen the new version but I know the plot differs.

You know how in the original the prisoner's bus pulled over because one of them was sick, the police station was closing that night & you had the little girl being killed, the father's actions & then the cult's siege?

Well, in the new movie, there is none of that.

There is a gangster locked up in the station & there is somekind of storm & flood leaving the police station isolated (cliche or what). Anyways, a mob wants to kill the gangster & the cops have got to protect him.

From what I've heard & read it's meant to be quite good.

That said, the cult aspect of the original made it so dark & eerie, I doubt this one will fulfill this area but may make up for it in areas like special effects etc.

borderline in terms of substance, but it's well shot and well executed. Fun to watch. Plus with the movies out now, this definitely should be your first or second choice.
