Any fans of Eastern movies here?

I'm pretty sure we'll all have seen Bruce Lee's movies at least.

I'm thinking the original Ringus will also have been watched.

I like some of the older shit like The Lone Wolf & Cub series. Anybody here seen Shogun Assasin? Seven Samurai?

Then there's all the kung fu movies that came out during the kung fu boom - like Big Boss & all them.

From the late eighties & early nineties, I like John Woo's shit. I know Glockmatic is also a Chow Yun Fat fan & Hard Boiled & them are some classics.

What about newer shit like Ichi The Killer? Or Hero?

Nah, Pauly, I ain't seen it.

I thought Ichi was OK. I was impressed by the violence they used & the fucked up characters that were in it. That said, the plot could've been a lot better.

Hero is fucking classic. I think that's a great movie.

Somebody needs to have seen Shogun Assassin. It's averagely shot & the action in it is average to, but the narration is really strong.

Seven Samurai is decent but a bit overrated imo. Of course The Magnificent Seven jacked it but that's a pretty shit movie too. And it's like 3 hours long. But most say it's classic.

Where's Glockmatic??? Write some good shit about John Woo & Chow Yun Fat so I don't have to!

Nah, Silleone there was some cool violence. I mean, having fucking needle/spike things through a dude's face?? That was some cool shit. Other films don't have the balls to have that. And the characters were very unusual. There was some queer shit happening, but I thought it was interesting.

Chow Yun Fat - Hard Boiled, A Better Tomorrow (1 or 2), City On Fire, The Killer.

Any of those Silleone?

ah, missed this thread. Old asian movies bring back memories, i grew up on them.

Young and Dangerous 1 and 2
Legend of the Red Dragon
Once Upon A Time in China 1 and 2
Fist of Legend
most Chow Yun Fat movies, hard boiled the killer god of gambling
Stephen Chow movies like Shaolin Soccer, Kung Fu Hustle, God of Cookery

Theres a bunch more, can't remember their names (yet alone their english names). I tried watching Seven Samurai but it was too boring for me for some reason, maybe cus it was black and white. Hero was a great movie, action and art together. Ichi the Killer was shitty, it was a movie that was based on gore, no kung fu action :(

I also have House of Flying Daggers dvd, it wasn't what i expected. It was too much a love story then action, the art is fantastic though. Too much kissing not enough killing for me.

watch Old Boy, Friend, My Sassy Girl and the first 2 Infernal Affairs. We make some of the best movies these days, thus why america keeps doing remakes though Infernal Affairs remake seem promising with Dicaprio and Damon
