Among the other top honors handed out on April 9 at Hollywood’s Kodak Theatre were publisher of the year to EMI Music Publishing and song of the year, a tie between Fergie’s "Big Girls Don’t Cry" and Gwen Stefani’s "The Sweet Escape."

Timbaland earned this year’s top pop accolade for his contributions to nine ASCAP award-winning songs, including "The Way I Are," "Give It to Me," "Say It Right" and "What Goes Around … Comes Around."

Stacy "Fergie" Ferguson was on hand to accept her song of the year award, along with fellow "Cry" co-writer Toby Gad. Fergie also picked up two additional pop awards for "Glamorous" and "Fergalicious." Sharing song of the year honors for "Escape" were co-writers Stefani, Akon and Giorgio Tuinfort. This year’s ceremony also marked the sixth consecutive top publisher win for EMI Music Publishing.

Among songwriters receiving multiple Pop Awards were Justin Timberlake, Stargate’s Mikkel Eriksen & Tor Hermansen, Keri Hilson, Keyshia Cole, Akon, Ludacris, Nelly Furtado and Terius "The Dream" Nash.

Rounding out the evening were several special salutes. Lionel Richie and Steve Miller both received ASCAP’s Golden Note Award for their respective career achievements. Industry icon Quincy Jones and ASCAP president/chairman Marilyn Bergman presented Richie’s award.

Saluting Miller via video was guitar guru and longtime Miller mentor Les Paul. Singer/songwriter Sara Bareilles ("Love Song") was given ASCAP’s Vanguard Award in recognition of her work in helping shape the future of American music.

The evening’s performers included Steve Miller, Bareilles, pop singer Elliott Yamin and songwriters Chris Tompkins and Josh Kear. The latter pair sang their ASCAP Pop Award-winning song "Before He Cheats," written for Carrie Underwood.
