Artwork on Nas' God's Son CD

on the disc itself there is a thorn cross with old english letters on all 4 sides. always wondered what it ment but just brushed it off... was listening to that album today and just thought I'd throw this out there for anyone who knew. So does anyone know the meaning behind the art?
