I had to think about where to put this thread and it doesn't really fit into any other category and picture perfect is for your own art work.

Anyway who are your favourite artists and art peices.
My favourite artists are salvador Dali and Van Gogh.
My favourite painting of all time is Van Gogh's Starry Night

I like artists from the Romanticism cause they show their feelings without following any rules, it's a rejection to all the other movements before. And I think art changed a lot since Romanticism, cuz from that moment what we call now Modern Art appeared. One of my favourites is William Turner: http://www.ibiblio.org/wm/paint/auth/turner/

'Rain, Steam and Speed':

From this movement I also like Friedrich a lot:

The Tree of Crows

Wanderer above the Sea of Fog

And Surrealism is my favourite movement. I like Dali a lot too, but I don't think it's necesary to post any more links, but Magritte is incredible too:

The Human Condition:

Btw, nice thread, I love art

i am not into painted art. i know it's an artform full of feelings and deeper meanings and whatever, and that to fully understand and appreciate it you have to look at it not just as a picture of something, but how that picture relates to the artist and blah blah blah lol. i am not, and never was much a sucker for paintings. maybe i'm not sophisticated enough. i prefer simpler artforms. some of the ones you guys posted up are pretty cool, though.

Im a big fan of this artists work, its called "Home"

Does anyone know the name and artist of the painting where the person puts the hands, palm-inwards, on both cheeks and sort of does that 'Scream' face. I think it also has a chaotic background. Thanks in advance.

Sorry if its in those links. Too lazy to check. :D

The Scream by Edward Munch
http://homepage.psy.utexas.edu/homepage/faculty/Telch/images/Scream.jpg

See there are different styles of painting, the scream is expressionism (expressionist).
Van gogh, monet and the like are impressionists
Salvador dali was a surrealist

expressionism the total opposite of impressionism. Generally impressionism is beautiful wihle expressionism is horrific and captures a reality that impressionism misses.
