There is nothing inherently wrong with Islam or the Quran, the problem lies with the people putting it into practice. That's where my beef is. And when I criticize such practices, instead of having the muslims side with me because of the obvious rape of their faith, they tend to portray it as an attack on the religion itself. Look at the bad Westerner trying to demonize Islam! While I'm criticizing the people, not the religion.

And duke i posted those Qur'anic verses to remove confusion and doubt about the death penalty for apostasy which according to the Qur'an it is not an Islamic rule of law. I dont want people screaming "OMG the Qur'an allows this and that" when it doesnt, and people would think that even without looking it up for themselves. I wanted to make things clear

It might not be literally in the Quran, but you can't deny the fact the punishment is part of the Sharia law as practiced there. Is this then not wrong and despicable? Shouldn't you denounce the Afghani government for trying to execute a convert (well, he's not going to be executed but 10 bucks say that it wasn't a final pang of mercy but rather the worldwide attention this case got)?

He meant that Islam commands its followers to marry one. However, if one was qualified to marry more than one, it's acceptable also. But, Islam encourages marrying only one.

There has been and there is still some Muslims who marry more than one female.

I know one of my uncles who has almost 15 kids and he's only married to one wife. I don't see anything wrong with having a lot of kids.

As I said, it's really hard to force someone to believe in something. Even if they said they believed, they can still practice their religion secretly. Just like Muslims had done at the beginning.

The fact that the geezer was almost put to death under such laws is an inherent cultural and societal problem over there in the Middle-East. I would like to see more Arabs and/or muslims coming to grips with this and instead of trying to defend Islam all the time would just recognize the damn problem
