for me it's the opposite. i need to read it now before i stop giving a fuck. anyway, as I'm reading, the book is just proving to me that he's a huge fucking asshole. He's one of those smart and talented people in the world who can cry about not getting what they want and get what they want and treat people like shit without consequences because they're smart and talented.

I had no idea how serious he was about that zen shit. He'd walk around barefoot for years and only eat fruits and vegetables and take showers once a week. he was doing that even after apple I and apple II came out.

In the ongoing patent battle between Motorola and Apple, the latest round went in favor of Motorola, as the German court granted a formal injunction against Apple that could result in Motorola asking to ban Apple products that violate their patents from selling in Europe.

Looking at Motorola's statement, though, it seems that the company will probably not be doing anything as such. They instead seem more interested in licensing Apple their technology (after collecting the damages for using it without permission since April 2003, of course) and moving on with life. Here's the official statement from Motorola.

WP7 isn't gaining any significant market share, but I see what you mean. This Nokia deal will either make WP7 a viable platform or bury it.

I actually like the look of the Nokia Lumia, too bad it's not running Android though. It's gotten decent reviews stating that the the build is quite good, but the negatives are that it is running WP7, No Flash support, etc.

WP7 is beautiful but the functionality and apps just aren't there. And who knows if they ever will be.

Expecting people to use native Hotmail and Bing Maps on WP7 when they could be using native Gmail and Google Maps on Android is just completely unrealistic. The probably with Microsoft is that their branding is shit and stagnant. Bing, Hotmail, Live, Zune, IE. None of these things have a good reputation. Xbox Live is pretty much the only one. They would have seriously been better off just calling the WP7 browser "Browser" rather than Internet Explorer.

Functionality on WP7 is ridiculously bad. It's more limited than iOS! Literally. I'd rather go for iOS than Windows Phone 7 because iOS at least has apps and works better, WP7 only looks a bit better.

I'd rather use Samsung's Bada than Windows phone 7 since the amount of apps is similar but Bada works very well and devices are much cheaper because Samsung sells their Bada phones for lower than they would normally charge them even with Android on board. With Windows Phone 7 manufacturers have to pay Microsoft for their system. Not a great deal if you ask me, if you have free mobile operating systems that are far superior out there.

Also, Nokia gain positive reviews mainly because for a lot of people, especially in Europe they have that emotinal value. Their hardware really isn't great, it's very overpriced and of only above average quality. They remind me of Iphone's as far as quality and being overpriced goes. It's nothing special but it's priced like it is.
Personally I'm not feeling their latest design choices too. Screens are small, bezels around the screens are huge and they look outdated. They look much older and pretty much poor when you see them in reality.
The only positive is that they look sort of nice with those colors and that Lumia 710 looks okay, but it's crappy for its price. It comes with an average LCD screen and a 5mpx camera. Back in the days Nokia would at least go for good cameras (like N8, which is still a leader if it comes to camera qualtiy). Now they are average at everything, still use a crappy OS and still charge too much for their phones.

Yeah ;-) But it's a small, symbolic amount of money. Windows Phone 7 devices cost up to 40% more than their Android equivalents which means that the OS itself (and Microsoft's license) costs much more plus for some reason releasing Windows Phone 7 devices is more expensive (I assume that they also charge for all of their licensed services like bing, hotmail, live, maps, skydrive etc.) and aren't as popular so in the end every device will be more expesive.

Do you know why? Because they're fucking expensive and people would have to be crazy to buy them. Especially since they look like Macbook air rip-offs and it's not something I'd want to be seen with.

Manufacturers don't want them because intel charges too much too.
Intel think that what they give is close to the final price of the laptop, and they only give motherboards with chipsets. Like, screw the display, hard drive, case etc. That's also why despite ultra-high price these components pretty much suck there.

Everyone I know was hyped about ultrabooks and then when the first ones were released for almost as much as Macbook airs everyone was disappointed, sometimes laughing their asses of at how ridiculously priced they are. Everyone hoped for something in between netbooks and full-sized laptops, which is what these devices really are.

I read tech blogs daily and I didn't even know the motherfuckers were even released. More of a marketing fail than anything.

Still, it's a terrible comparison. Acer and Asus aren't the only manufacturers making Ultrabooks. For all we know, another manufacturer might have scaled UP their orders. You can talk about sales this and that, but it's just marketing schpiel and fanboy hype for the most part.

Quickly brushed under the rug when reminded that Windows still commands 90% of computer market share worldwide.
