70% or 80& of the world is poor, when rich people give money to the poor, sooner or later it will always end in the hands of the rich again. So poor stay and rich stay rich, it's almost impossible to change that.
But it's a noble striving though

I try telling people shit like that all the time, like the $300 Tax refund checks Bush sent out, that helped him win some votes from uneducated people. they did not realize it was for one a loan, and secondly it was just like a "Gift card" to be spent right back into the econemy thust going right back to the rich people.

it is not impossible to change, all it takes is for people to realize and decide that is not how they want it to work anymore.

people are weak and scared however so it is unlikely to change without a huge catalyst.

^ exactly :thumb:
Ofcourse it's possible to change..
But therefore people have to end classify/judge other people by race, ethnic/descent, religion, sex and every1 should given have equal chances in life.
Most important in live is to become hapy & succesful though, and that has nothing to do with money.
That's why I love that pac-speach about 'if there was no money, and everything depended on your moral standards..'

Amen

I think I need to listen to that interview again. I also love it.

I just don't understand this type of thinking. Why is he an idiot? Because he uses his fame to push for help for Africa? Would it be better if he (like the vast majority of celebrities) just sat in his mansion and ignored it? He may annoy some people with his methods but you can't fault his honesty and commitment.

right sir!

there is absolutely no reason for hating on Bono. he is the one who tries to make a change...i dont know exactly about his projects, charity-activities etc but im pretty sure he has done a lot in the past years and collected a lot of money. so how can someone talk bad about him? do not just look at live8, take a look at everything.

on the other hand i agree that live8 yesterday wasnt all that because the only thing which helps the poor people in africa is money!

I think Bono believes he is a Jesus-like figure.

And if he gave up his standard of living, maybe then I'd believe he is fully dedicated to helping others.

And no beReal, fair trade - which ultimately means money I know - is more important than just giving Africa aid.

Live 8 wasnt ment to end poverty they know its not gonna do that. Its to draw attention to the poverty in africa and make people aware, and i think its done that. Like all the publicity it had, made it known to everyone. Maybe some artist were doing it for there own publicity but watever they still was there showing support...i think those celebs would give more of their money if they had other people, (the governement) backin them, cos their money ent gonna make much difference on its own. But yer i agree Live8 ent changing nothing on its own, but hopefully it will open sum peoples eyes to this shit.. :thumb:

I don't know if these concerts made or will make any difference for the people in Africa, but you can't discount the fact that hundreds of millions of people from all over the world are taking a stand and sending a clear and powerful message that they actually do care and want an end to poverty and suffering. It gives the people in Africa hope and that they're not alone in this.

People criticising the celebrities of Live 8 have completely missed the point. It aint about the publicity celebrities like Bono 'crave' but so they can be a focus point for mobilising millions of people. Live 8 was an incentive and a way to bring this atrocity to the minds of all. The celebrities are just the means to rally these people together. What better opportunity is there to get the message out to millions perhaps billions of people around the world about the issues of alleviating poverty?

I'm not sayin the live 8 concerts will untimately eliminate poverty, but What a global scale performance such as this can do is raise awareness. Its not about wether bono is an idiot or green day sucks or whatever, It's about sharing the plight of millions of people on our planet who live in extreme poverty on a daily basis. I think it's incredible that icons such as Bono use their influence and fame to bring attention to important global issues. Dont come in here as if you know exactly what's on bonos mind and what his reasons for doing this is..

The question is what happens tomorrow, the week after, the month, the year? Solving global poverty issues and helping Africa reach it's potential isn't going to be something that happens overnight. I dont think this is a simplistic problem where the solution to this can be solved through money alone, this requires comprehensive partnerships, cooperation, unity and funding together.

I didn't even notice live8. It was like a quick blur on my channel-surfing way to Cartoon Network.
