Anybody else anti-live8?

Hope all you want. But just like Live8 it aint gonna do shit. I'm happy and well fed. Thanks for caring.

Now if you have nothing constructive to add, or you can't handle debating and other people having different opinions to you, then post in a different thread.

I think you are the one that has a problem with others haveing a different view then you.

All I am doing is stateing my view and you keep weeping like a few PG-13 verbal rocks thrown at you are really hurting.

Anyway, why don't you go do something positive rather then talk smack about others doing good things?

I feel the reason you are so cynical is cause you don't give a fuck, so you are like "These guy's don't give a fuck they only want money"

That is God's mirror showing the inside of your own heart.

Just wanted to add...

I'm not anti-charity. Or anti-ending world poverty. I pity anyone who has to suffer. And wish everyone happiness.

But I'm very much anti the carnival that accompanies live8. And the hypocritical celebrities. Who are fighting poverty on 1 hand and receiving gift bags worth 10k + in the other.

Who says I'm not doing any charity work. Everytime I give money or help out another person should I start a thread on this board. Or take out a newspaper advert. I'm not that insecure.

And I never weeped. I stated that calling people names because they don't agree with you is ban worthy.

I'm not cynical. If it helps, i'll happily eat my words.

That is human nature, many great things that have been told to be done by great men of high moral character. actully would have never happend if not for there desire for own personal gain.

Im fuckin glad someone brought this up.

from the very start, i thought Live8 was the biggest bunch of crap.what, celebrities throwing big concerts all around the world for free? to raise awareness for poverty?

wtf?

i think the whole world already knows about poverty and where the problem is. as if a few songs are gonna make a slight difference. those who participated , participated for the attention, like oh i performed at live 8. just adds to their history thats all.

whats live 8 gonna do? uhhhh, nothing.i bet the people that went and watched the concert just went cuz it was free. they dont give a shit about poverty.they dont care what the cause is for.

and bono is a moron

True. But they should never have been offered.

Doesn't it make you sick? People are starving, that's what the whole benefit was about. And you're picking up Gucci Gift bags.

I for 1 would turn it down. It's not like Robbie Williams and co. are short on money.

Yes I agree with you there, that is crazy for any of them to accept the shit.

Yet it dose not darken all the light they are trying to spread.

I personaly don't get why people keep billions in the bank while others don't have shit to eat.

That is my Number One Problem with the world today, the distrabution of wealth. it is all ass backwards and most people just keep playing the crooked game.

That is true. Maybe we need to add a mixture of communism to our daily life. Spread the wealth and all that.

People don't realise that money isn't a measure of success.

Ofcourse the artists care about poverty in the world, but most artists are doing it just for the publicity (Just like the spectators went to the concerts for the music).
I also don't see a connection between a concert & helping poor people.I just think direct help and care is the best way to help people.
I could also say Bono is a idiot, but he did more than the majority of the musicians of this carneval.

I just don't understand this type of thinking. Why is he an idiot? Because he uses his fame to push for help for Africa? Would it be better if he (like the vast majority of celebrities) just sat in his mansion and ignored it? He may annoy some people with his methods but you can't fault his honesty and commitment.

Live-8 was in good intentions. Will it do much? Probably not. Forgiving debt was their main goal, but lifting debt won't save African countries from poverty when trade restrictions and lack of jobs hinders them.

Nooo
I meant: I could also say Bono is an idiot, like a lot of people said here..
But would rather say: he did more than the rest of the artists of this carneval, because he actually visits africa and knows where he talks about.

That's the best point so far.

And if they succeed in that. I will agree that the concert has been succesful and well worthwhile.

I think you are serious, and that makes me happy/Sad (sad for implying you where a cum wad)

There should be some sort of limit on wealth, or if you work for a company they should give a set precentage of profits back to the employees.

something to even out the scale a bit.

Shit the filthy rich could still be filthy rich while the rest of us are more then comfortable.

who could have a problem with that?

70% or 80& of the world is poor, when rich people give money to the poor, sooner or later it will always end in the hands of the rich again. So poor stay and rich stay rich, it's almost impossible to change that.
But it's a noble striving though
