Technology Android

so, this guy who has an iPhone but a general affinity for all things smartphones, texted me out of the blue asking me to do him a favor and take a screenshot of a website that's mobile-optimized. After googling how to do it on an android phone and finding out HOW RIDICULOUSLY HARD IT IS, I feel like this guy was trying to punk me for having an Android phone.

^You can take a screen shot with a shake of your phone if you want. After all, there's an app for that

If you're rooted, theres an app for that.

I don't want to root my Nexus S. What app is there if not rooted?

I doubt there is one. Search "screenshot" in the Market and see if anything comes up that says it doesn't require root.

Or you can load SDK and do it that way on your computer. I believe using an app distorts the colors of the screen immensely. The computer does not.

Sidekick makes a return with 4G. Oh man, I had been hearing about this since last year.

That is unacceptable considering how easy it is to do on an iPhone or iPod Touch.

WHAT THE FUCK?

anyone here with a Galaxy S know how to back up contacts to Gmail?

I've tried the accounts and sync feature in the phone settings, but nothing gets synced over to Gmail (Contacts).

Using Android 2.2, with TouchWiz.

ok, i think i have the above problem solved.

Pittsey, do you know how to connect the Galaxy S to the computer via Mass Storage mode (Android 2.2)? I've noticed that since the update, the USB mode in system settings is not there, so i cannot select USB mode.

I have enabled debugging and selected the option (in the notifaction bar) to copy files to/from computer/phone - it just doesnt connect with the computer.

Downsides of having a market without control. Apple, Samsung or Microsoft can do it easily because their app markets are still under nazi rules and every app or update is checked before being released.
So with Google safety must be enforced by the system. Some permissions can't be given.

I'm not sure why they didn't introduce a safe screenshot service within the system (like they sort of did with the texting one so you can install custom messaging apps and be quite safe).

I downloaded "screenshot" by Gik Soft on my Evo, it says it only works on rooted phones but it works fine on my phone. I set the options up and made it a 2 second delay, now I just shake the phone and I have a screenshot saved on my SD card. I'm assuming it will work for phones that are 2.2 or better. My son has a Samsung Moment that I rooted but "screenshot" still doesn't work on it.
