Interesting. I had noticed that Applanet wasn't working any more. No big deal, you can simply use Google to find any apps that you aren't willing to buy and then sideload the APK's.

I think more devs need to understand the value of the impulse buy. If an app is 1 or 2 quid, and I really want/need it, I'll usually say fuck it and buy it. But I ain't spending 4 or 5 quid on one, that's ridiculous. Look at Angry Birds - costs money on iOS and is free and ad-funded on Android, and they've said they make more money from the Android version these days.

Yep.. I agree. The only app that I bought for a fiver was Caustic. And I didn't actually want it. My son took my phone to play angry birds. 5 minutes later he was buying apps on the android market. Now I make sure I turn all data off before he uses it.

Nice. Darky's ROM? I had that, but there was some browser lag, so I flashed the clean XXKG1 leaked 2.3.4 firmware from Samsung and then rooted it with Chainfire's method.

VillainROM. Working well enough, just gotta get used to not having Sense. Still not sold on 4.3" screens....looks awesome, but still feels slightly too big for my liking, feels a bit awkward trying to use it one handed....maybe I'm just afraid to drop it.

Another image surfaces of Sony Ericsson’s dual-core Xperia Duo

Another image has surfaced of what could be Sony Ericsson’s first dual-core device, the Xperia Duo. This time it’s a clear press image that shows off the Android 2.3 device. Rumoured specs have it possibly coming with a 1.4GHz dual-core processor, 4.5-inch qHD display that’s powered by the Bravia engine (same that’s in the Xperia arc), a 12 megapixel camera and a massive 2500mAh battery. No word on when Sony Ericsson will make an official announcement of this phones existence.

a 4.5" display, 12MP camera and 2500mAh battery on that Sony? Fuck. That sounds too good to be true, frankly. If it is true that phone will cost a bomb - unless Sony are choosing to not make a profit, or even make a loss - in order to gain market share. Which might be the case.

Actually these phones don't cost that much to make. Xperia Arc is selling with a huge profit, despite rather expensive camera module which probably costs at least over a third of the phone's total value but they're made by Sony so again it's good for them in the long run.

But yeah, that Xperia looks almost too awesome but that's what I thought seeing specs of the Galaxy S2 for the first time.

so twitter for android now has push notifications... am i right in saying that push notifications use less data than pull notifications because they are instructed with a set of rules on which ones should be brought in to the device?

Motorola building Ice Cream Sandwich tablet with high-res screen

Motorola has already built and is testing prototypes of the XOOM’s successor, Fudzilla said on Thursday. The device is reportedly much thinner than the XOOM and packs a 10-inch display with a 4:3 aspect ratio and an impressive 2048 x 1536-pixel resolution. While known specs are currently slim, the new tablet apparently runs Android 4.0 “Ice Cream Sandwich” and it’s possible that it will be powered by NVIDIA’s brand new quad-core Kal-El processor. Fudzilla said it’s possible Motorola will launch the tablet sometime this year, but it remains unclear if this will be the previously leaked XOOM 2 or possibly another XOOM tablet. Hopefully we hear more on it in the near future.
