anyone seen previews for this?

looks pretty good to me, i actually hope it's decent. The last 3 or 4 'scary' movie previews that i thought would be good have been pretty lackluster(boogeyman, grudge, ring 2).

all i know is that the house is real, and there are tours available to those that wish 2 go, but not many do since they say it's really haunted.

Also know that nobody has lived there in a long time. And i don't think because nobody's interested.....also think it's just cuz no real estate company wants 2 even sell the property.

The first amityville was good but they fell off after that.
yeah the first one is still a bit scary to me. I have mixed feelings about this one, I want it to be the OG one with better Special FX but I fear it is gonna take a bit of the Corny path.

Dear Yahoo!:
Was Amityville Horror a true story and, if so, what's the house doing today?

Dear Bruce:
There are countless legends about what happened at the notorious house back in the '70s. We do know this: On November 13, 1974, Ronald DeFeo murdered his mother, father, two brothers, and two sisters with a high-powered rifle in their Long Island home. He is currently serving a 150-year sentence for the murders. It's what happened after the murders that is controversial.
We started by searching on "Amityville," which led us to the Hauntings > Amityville category. The first site on the list, The Amityville Murders, had a promising description: "deals with the facts of the DeFeo murders and the subsequent Amityville Horror story."

When we reached the site, we clicked on a link about the Lutzes, the family that moved into the house about a year after the grisly murders. The web site uses the book, The Amityville Horror: A True Story, as a reference to what happened to the Lutz family. The incidents that purportedly took place include:

While a priest was blessing the house, he heard a masculine voice state "Get out!"
George Lutz said he had a cold for the 28 days he stayed in the house.
Kathy Lutz discovered her crucifix turned upside-down on the inner wall of a walk-in closet.
George awakened to sounds of drumbeats and marching coming from the first floor. Upon entering the area where he thought the music originated, it ceased. George returned upstairs to find Kathy levitating two feet off the bed.
Green slime oozed down the walls of the third-floor hall.
Of course, none of this has been proven, and many people believe the entire Amityville story is a hoax. One thing on which almost everyone agrees is that the hit 1979 movie used an extensive amount of dramatic license.

We found the answer to the second part of your question at Amityville: The Web Site, which has several pictures of the house taken in 1998. Apparently the house is in the same spot as it was 20 years ago. And, in our opinion, it still looks a little spooky.

Even though it's a remake, some parts of the movie have changed including the ending. It's a completely different ending, also the production company making this "Amityville Horror" is making money by doing nothing but remakes.

First Texas Chainsaw Massacre, now Amityville Horror and I read yesterday the next one will be The Hitcher, possibly starring the very fine Jessica Biel.

It's a hoax.

The Lutzes never called the police; it hadn't snowed when they said they found footprints in the snow; the door that had apparently been ripped off its hinges was still intact, hinges and all; the family returned to the house to have a Yard sale the day after being 'chased out'

The whole Amityville Horror story was concocted by William Weber, the lawyer of Ronald DeFeo Jr. (the man who killed his family in the house) and the Lutzes. Both parties admitted later that practically everything was fabricated. The Lutzes could release a book and Weber could get a re-trial for his client, claiming that he was under demonic influences.

The house isn't "haunted", and never was. Since the Lutze's moved out, nobody has complained of paranormal activity. The people that live there now have never reported anything unusual. They changed the address and altered parts of the house (the windows especially) to reduce the number of tourists showing up.

Even those who believe in ghosts and the paranormal concluded that it was an obvious hoax.

i heard about that too, kinda a relief if its the case though....not really cool if I lived in a house and I see yellow eyes looking at me from my closet and falling in pools of blood....
