LA is very easy to drive in, and the roads are much larger in LA... Besides that big freeway which took me 2 hours to drive 5 miles.... I had a very easy drive there.
The first thing everyone I know who has ever been to L.A., including my best friend, tells me is how horrible it is to drive out there. The highways are five lanes both directions with bumper-to bumper traffic going 70 mph.
Even if you don't consider that bad or dangerous, that's not the point. The point is that everyone out there drives everywhere they go, and they don't have any real alternatives.
You mention public transport. One of the many systems in the UK that doesn't work. The use of a bus is expensive if you live outside London. Trains, lol, yeah when they actually run/arrive, and not full up. Taxi? Even the Trains are cheaper than taxis. Cheapest method of transport is a car, and most people in the UK live in some sort of financial poverty.

When it comes to natural beauty in the landscape, friendly people and choices - it's the best country to live in the western world. Not to mention everything is cheap there - compared to the UK at least.

Agreed... The highways are annoying... But the M25 in the UK is the same....
And in the actual city centre LA is empty compared to London or even greater London which is far more rural!!!.... Maybe it's harsh compared to the rest of America... But compared to London it's a piece of piss....
As for public transport... Yes the tube is good... But it costs $20 for a multi-zone ticket... Buses are shit... Taxi's are $100+ if you go anywhere... with A $40 minimum fare

I can see how you would say that. But I didn't say the US was more racist than here. I said racial integration. I'll try and explain what I mean by that.
Over here, they claim to accept minorities. In a way, this is true. But, because of how old this country is, it doesn't work. There's never gonna be a diverse government since the House of Lords is all made up of rich white landowners whose families have been those landowners for damn near a thousand years if not more.
Basically, the way the UK approaches minorities (and I see this with my own eyes coming from a punjabi background) - encourages minorities to form cultural bubbles and exist just as they might have done in their own country...for example....come to Handsworth - it's basically just Indians. There is no integration with society. You may as well be in India. Same in Southall. Same in Lozells, Birmingham but with the Jamaican community.
Therefore there is no integration. The Goverment tries to let everyone have their own events. They make a fuss in the news about Diwali, but you know it's just for Indians. They make a fuss over Chinese New Year for the Chinese folks. It's kinda like saying "well, you guys can have your celebration, and you guys can have yours" and so on. But those will never be English celebrations. Despite the fact that most of the third and fourth generations Asians and Blacks are just as English as any white people. This leads to further separatism and aggravation between the communities.
The difference in the states is - patriotism is not limited to white people there. I was there for 4th July and I went to a few celebrations, where there were people of all races celebrating. Those kind of events don't discriminate - why? Because although everyone has their own ethnic background - they are ALL American. They will all stand there and celebrate and wave American flags etc because nobody is excluded.
That mentality of all-for-one patriotism does NOT exist in the UK. Point blank, period. When was the last time you saw a black or asian waving a Union Jack? It doesn't happen because we are still treated like minorities here and the atmosphere here is still one of upper-class whites making everyone else feel like they are doing minorities a favor by allowing us to live in this country. The Union Jack is a Caucasian symbol and England is a Caucasian country - or at least, that's what you'd think looking at your TV screen, listening to your radio, or reading your newspaper.
The backwards mentalities and pretense of "tolerance" and "diversity" is actually having a negative effect on racial integration. It's a half-assed way of going about things and ends up making ethnic groups bond together in their own units. That's not integration in any sense of the word.
