well i dunno what are you guys arguing about...
the american industry as its whole has a different view of the market than the japanese and the europeans...
American cars/fridges/tvs are made so they fuck up after 3-4 years, so you have to buy another one... they do that so they dont lose their customers and have them buy the same product all the type..
ill take as an exemple the Chevrolet Cavalier...it's 10 000-15 000...it doesnt cost much... during the first 3 years, its a good car, drives nicely, isnt that boring...doesnt look ugly neither... but when its 5 years old, then you have to change everyfhuckingthing on it so it costs you more than its worth...
What does the stupid/loyal/proud north american customer of the 1980's 1990's do? he goes and buys the same car cuz he loved his first 4 years with it...
In Japan, the pride is not in the customers, it's in the mechanics who put the car together. All of Toyota's workers are proud to work for that company and they really want to make a great car so that ppl all over the world say "Damn, those Japanese have great cars"... It lasts longer...
Back in the 80's and 90's the N.A. car market was dominated by GM and the N.A. companies... of course the rich ppl drove the imports, but the middle class only had Chevies, Dodges and so on and so forth...
These days, the customers are more aware of the product they buy and they want it to be rentable... So they turn to Japanese cars like Toyota, Mitsubishi, etc...
So the American car companies started to lose some market and they decided to change their production..
Anyways, Toyota and Mitsubishi(i think) are in Nascar starting from next year ,it will be interesting to see them compete... its not really their field tho.
