Which ones better? I'm looking to buy my own PC and was wondering in laymans terms which one is better. I've read a lot of stuff about comparing the two and like for like, AMD was superior in nearly every aspect than INTELs PIIII. I also realise there are other factors such as FSB speeds etc which have a baring on performance

Would you agree with that? Or have I been visiting AMD biased sites?

^what kind of systems are you looking at? see,it really depends what chip it is,you can't just ask a general question, which is better, intel or amd.Theres some intel chips better than amd,and theres some amd chips better than intel.

Difference between chips isnt really that big anyways,or that big of a deal. Anything over 2 Ghz will do just what you need and more.Make sure you get enough ram though so your system doesnt lag.And if you are going to be playing games,I would worry more about the type of Video Card you get instead of which processor is better.

yeah, really the vid card and the ram is the most important, in my opinion....the processor speed really doesnt matter as much....

if i were you, a gig of ram and a 256 vid card will have you covered for at least...anoher 5 years.....

meaning?? you may not have to buy a new comp...and instead, just ugrade what you got...

yea....an AMD 2.4 Ghz processor will out perform an Intel 2.4 Ghz processor.

there was a study not too long ago. Intel had to come up with a 5.2 Ghz processor in order to keep up with AMD's fastest at the time (FX-55)

Intel realized that it was pointless for them to keep increasing their Ghz speed so they decided to try to increase performance in other ways

You can't go wrong with AMD. I'm trying to save up as much as I can to get a dope one, cause this Celeron (Ya I said Celeron :( ) just doesn't cut it anymore. lol..

Just make sure that you buy a decent chipset with your Processor. No point in having a huge processor if the chipset is pants. Which is why Dell sell Pentium 4's for £200.
