All Eyez on Me vs. Life After Death (comparison)

All Eyes on Me shouldn't be considered a classic, if it was made by any other rapper it wouldn't be. But nevertheless it is a good album as is Life After Death.

Thats bull. I'm sure you like country grammar and Ass like that better than Whatz Ya phone.

Half true
Country Grammer will get spins anyday over WYP#
That beat thumps harrrd in the whip. The beat for WYP# may have worked for Prince(or was it Morris Day?), but as a hip-hop song it makes me wanna earl, and Pac aint saving it with lyrics either
That's the way I see it. If you love the song, fine, do u

btw Wu-tang Forever>>>>both albums

Word, but it is a 2Pacboard so you'd expect this response.

I feel Biggie more than 2Pac that's why I'd choose LAD although IMO RTD shits on AEOM,LAD and the Makaveli album (only because the Outlaws future on some of my fav songs)

False.

It would be most other rappers best album, for Pac its only his 3rd best. Album is definatly classic, almost for the pure fact it has stood the test of time and is still being played in systems throughout the world, nearly a decade after its release.

Makaveli > any other Pac or Biggie album

People still play "Whoops there it is" too, does that mean anything. If that album was made by any other rapper it wouldnt be listened to as much because they only reason people listen to it is because it is pac. Serious, talk about overrating an album. It is good ok, but dont put the classic stamp on something just cus your favorite rapper makes it. It might have classic tracks on it but it is not a calssic album. Its annoying and i shouldnt even bother so im goin to stop because tupac could of released "ass like that" and you guys would probably give the classic praise to it.

Pac is my fav artist ever but I dont call any album from him classic just because it has his name on it.

I consider Pac to have 3 classic albums: MATW, AEOM, and 7 Day Theory.....with 7 Days being the best of the three IMO.

AEOM is classic. Too many mc's, for better or worse, have used this album as a blueprint for making their own albums, and as a double cd, you cant get more consistant; Disc 1 alone was nearly flawless and the second disc, while not as strong, was still very solid. Album has a ridiculous amount of bangers. Plus it was the album that launched him from being a mere rap star into a global icon.

His album didnt launch him into a global icon his death did. We are talking classic, a classic album is something that is flawless, you said it yourself it is not. 7 Day Theory aint classic either, Outlaws ruin that. Stop throwing the word around where it is not due. Making classic albums lose credibility by lowering the bar.
No double album has come out that sounds or follows the "blueprint" of All Eyes on Me, please name one. Like I said you and said, the album has good songs but the album as a whole, not classic.

1. He was an icon before his death.....and it was AEOM that launched him to being known worldwide. If you say otherwise, you probably werent listening to hip hop in 96'. Either that, or you're livin' in a fantasy world. I was there to see it happen. His death was just another aspect of it, but he was officially at iconic status on February 13th, 1996.

2. There is NO such thing as a flawless album. Every album has at least one song that someone or another will complain about, so objectively speaking, no such album exists. Classic albums exist, yes, flawless albums do NOT. And even if they DID exist, which they dont, I dont think an album has to be flawless to be a classic.

3. 7 Day Theory is classic, this shouldnt even really be up for debate.....Outlawz were on 4 songs out of the 12, and even the songs they were on are still fire.....they were on "Hail Mary" and that is easily a classic song, please dont even try to argue against that, you will look like a fool if you do. The fact Pac is one of hip hop's all time greats and this widely considered his best work ever almost makes this album classic by default, not to mention the songs themselves, which are some of the best songs he ever penned. Production was sick too, nice n' grimey. "Blasphemy" alone is one of the sickest songs ever, lyrically and conceptually.

4. Name one album influenced from AEOM?? Are u kidding me, you cant be serious? Ill name a fucking shitload of them. LAD itself was influenced from AEOM (why you think Big and everyone and their momma started making double albums? Simple, because Pac did it, and did it on a successful level. Back then it wasnt considered a smart business move to make a double cd but Pac proved otherwise by selling 7 million+). Big's double cd follows all the same formulas that Pac's did pretty much. 50's first album has AEOM written all over it, he totally used Pac's formulas for making that album, his whole demeanor is and persona is bitten from Pac, except Pac was/is a much better songwriter and has more versatility then 50 ever will. Game's debut was influenced from AEOM, Game himself even said so on the album, more then once lol. No Limit, back in 98' was constantly biting themes from Pac's albums (AEOM in particular) with almost all their releases (so thats another 20+ releases right there), C-Murder was one of the biggest Pac biters ever.....Eminem said in an interview once that he used AEOM as one of his influences for making the Eminem Show. Bottomline: AEOM is the album every mainstream MC dreams of making....an album that will appeal to virtually all audiences while still maintaining hip hop respect. Pac was the first rapper to put up MC Hammer type numbers and do it without selling out. I hate to break it to you, but there are far more factors then how many good songs an album has that determines whether its classic or not. Factors such as production, content, impact/influence, replay value, the test of time, etc......AEOM excelled in all or almost all of these categories in SPADES.

5. And as far as hip hop standards go, I have very high standards......just to give you an idea of how high my standards are, I consider the last true hiphop classic to be "Aquemini", which came out 7 years ago. There's been a few near classics since but thats it. To be honest, I think sometimes my standards are a little TOO high and I question myself if im being to close minded. If your standards are higher then mine, well, you need to bring them down a bit, cause then you must be one nit-picky motherfucker. You basically said Pac got no classic albums in your last post, and that definatly hurts your credibility regarding your other opinions on hip hop. I mean, everyone got their own personal tastes but its pretty much universal truth that Pac got classic albums.

you gonna debate with me, you betta step ya game up, real quick.....you're not dealing with one of these run-of-the mill young Pac fans in here that thinks everything he made was classic but just started listening to hip hop 2 years ago, types in all caps, and can only respond with childish insults but cant hold a debate down.....you dealing with someone who knows they shit, and knows it really well.....

I don't think that's so. There are more sides to an album being labelled a classic than it being 'flawless'.

- A majority of the tracks have to be solid (AEOM is 95% solid). I really try to flaw some of the songs, but can't seem to. I just rate them lower than the others. Book 1 definitely is stronger than book 2, but book 2 is close behind.

- There has to be tracks for everyone. Some tracks will appeal more to different kinds of people. AEOM surely hits those different people: the females, the hard asses and the people who listen to the lyrics more (e.g - myself).

There are club tracks, chill out tracks and so forth. Like I said, they need to appeal to a wide audience to be successful.

- The beats need to be catchy or flow well, but not always. You can't go wrong with a good beat and AEOM has at least over half a dozen decent ones.

This is just my opinion. I have never played a CD so much, enjoyed over 90% of the songs and preached an album so much as AEOM. This is why I consider it classic.

This is a 2pac board, of course most people are goin to say pac. The results are goin to be biased. Anywayz, Pac album was better. The reason why LOD went diamond so fast that it was release a few weeks after his death so biggie was in the public's eye alot.

and those who dont beleive AEOM is a blueprint for successfull albums of today,,listen to Kanye's latest effort,,,no prizes for the first one to guess which track from AEOM Drive Slow on Kanyes album sounds like...common,, just guess ;-) amuse me,,,common..lol

Does anybody know if AEOM is diamond,,,,I think it is,just that its numbers have not been updated..."I think the 'MAN' is stopping the update of Pac's sales cause he didnt like him lol.

of course the board is biased to Pac,,, but somethings which people say are just not that smart, some of these arguments would have been brought up on a Big forum as well. saying some thing like "His album didnt launch him into a global icon his death did." and "a classic album is something that is flawless" is really ............ anyway
