Well, I don't necessarily think these inconsistencies make them wrong - if that's what you're getting at.

I do believe that they should take a good look at each of 3 cases (let's keep to this 3, anymore & it will get sick ) & set something more or less in stone - obviously really quite important for the countries who are without legislation in certain areas.

That said, I don't believe it should be 'across the board' ages of consent. I do believe that the age of consent for homosexuality - either of them - should be slightly higher. Part cautioness, part homophobia - although it isn't really a phobia because it's not that I'm scared of it, I just don't particularly agree with it. Also, I support countries' rights to have it a crime to indulge in homosexuality.

And really, any country which has an age of consent for any form of sexual intercourse which is lower than 16 really needs to get hit with some pressure from.....erm...a pressure group.

Meh, I'm too diplomatic to pass judgment on other countries, lol. I stick by my first comment, it's all just "interesting." Nah, I guess I'd lean towards your latter comment... whilst they need an age of consent as a basis to distinguish paedophilia from consenting sex, it does seem to legitimate sex at what seems to still be a young age, 16/17 or whatever. One thing that we noticed when I did criminal law at uni was that there is a kind of 'gap' in the legislation... it is prohibited for a guy and girl under 17 to legally have sex right (minors cant give consent), but what if both partners are underage... so is it a two-way rape...lol?

As we know from cases of this sort, if there are charges to be brought regarding consensual underage sex it will almost always be that the charges are brought by the girl's parents. The outcome is varied but I think we all know that there is no basis to charge the boy with anything in this kind of circumstance where the only aggrieved party is the girl's parents - unless, of course, there is a distince age gap.
