no matter what your views on the drug and it's possession are, you have to admit that she was being unsafe while driving and smoking it, and she should at least be charged for that.
I kinda agree with what Frodawg said. I still fail to see why weed is treated any different than alcohol, but, being at the wheel while under the influence is not a good idea.
What these guys say. I'm not down with driving under the influence. Especially when you are smoking up while driving. That's dumb shit. Can't wait til you get home at least?

I kinda disagree, she was driving baked. Smoke enough weed and being baked is like your second sober, or even your normal. I mean I can't even remember the last time I smoked weed and was like "dude, I'm really fucked up" Maybe when I was 14?
My philosophy is:
- I understand weed is illegal
- Up until very recently, I did it without any moral quarrels
- I don't see how smoking it should be dependent on age. Lot of old people take a glass of wine. Some substances result in a favorable bodily feeling. I can see how for old people who might already have diminishing bodies it's even more of a relief.
- I didn't expect to not get punished if I got caught. Fine to be a drug user, just don't feel victimized when you are taken in, and don't try to influence others to take your drugs
That she got stopped and charged on possession is perfectly reasonable. She should lose her driver's license too imo. I've driven under the influence and I hate myself for allowing myself to do it. A materialistic desire in the moment has made me disregard my own morals out of selfishness. I no longer smoke so it's no longer an issue, and my way of "categorizing" alcohol and weed in my head, it's something I would NEVER do drunk. I admit I have and my self-hatred/guilty conscience about it doesn't allow me to not be judgmental about it when others do it.
If one smokes frequently or generally does some kind of drug on a frequent basis, even maybe overlapping one another, then it will change your general level of attention. The reason you don't get fucked up is you still have enough of an amount in your blood from your last session that the brain doesn't recognize it as a severe increase. You don't feel fucked up, because you've been constantly semi-high for however long you've smoked frequently.
And if you smoke only on occasion I can't understand how you don't get fucked up. I do if I quit for like a week, and I've been a steady smoker for six years lol.
Anyway, it is statistically, medically and practically shown that while under the influence of THC, your reaction time is reduced. Driving in traffic is dangerous enough as it is, that small margin might contribute to an accident. In other words, an unnecessary risk.
If nothing else, it's fucking retarded to drive around stoned cause if you get caught they'll take whatever you have on you, your license, and you'll be fined. If you HAVE to be at someone else's place to get high, take the bus or a cab, or walk. Or sleep over. Or if getting high is so important to you, have friends come over. If they won't maybe you quit the shit for a while and get a life and some friends that will come over (read: my life).

^Well yeah I agree, if you get caught it sucks to be you but I understand driving while drunk and high. All I was trying to say is that driving stoned isn't that bad. It certainly isn't comparable to drunk driving.

I doubt smoking messes w/ ur reaction time anymore than being tired does. And society nowadays forces lack of sleep upon you so it's inevitable you'll be driving a bit sleep-inebriated. I just smoke weed on top of it to counteract the sleep-inebriation.
