If he was wearing a turban and he was from the subcontinent, he was probably Sikh, and would probably rather be called Punjabi instead of being lumped in with his Hindustani oppressor.

I'm half-punjabi, but I ain't Sikh. My family are Hindu-Punjabi. We never oppressed anyone.
