why wasnt House of Pain on Pac's Life?

I figured they used it for the Biggie duets, why not this album. that would have been a nice cut for the album. usually one song is used for both artists albums.

surprised Amaru didnt put that on the album.

amaru's quality control. this remix was actually decent, so im not surprised it didnt make the cut.

On top of Puffy supposedly owning the rights to the song, I always figured it was just an agreement between Amaru and Bad Boy since Amaru got to release Runnin' then maybe in exchange for the rights to use Biggie's verse, they allowed Bad Boy to release House of Pain with Pac's verse.

Tupac said in an interview that there was a point that he was just going in and laying down verses for cash, since he was broke due to all the legal troubles (talking about the time he got shot). He was probably paid for the work he did with puffy and biggie, so they would most likely have the rights to it. Runnin' was meant for Thug Life, so Biggie was probably paid for his verse there by Tupac's peoples, so that's why Amaru retains the rights for that.

I always thought that Runnin was a 2Pac song featuing Biggie whereas House Of Pain is a Biggie song featuring 2Pac.

Right, but that was in reference to working with artists who he wasn't well acquainted with. In the same interview, he also talks about how he would've done it for free depending on who it was. At the time, more than likely he wouldn't have charged Biggie to do a collaboration.
