I always felt owning a cat would just result in me having scratch and bite marks. Seems like everyone else has different experiences. We have two Labs and none have ever knowingly, intentionally harmed anyone in my family, and we had the first, Shadow, since he was a pup and my sister was only two years old.

I find the expressions cute but see cats as evil, cunning creatures.

1 of my cats has scratched me. He has the God complex. But the other is so sweet, absolute affection seeker. I love watching Loki have his psycho moments. He'll just get this attitude and you know by body language alone he's gonna start chasing shadows, run top speed through the house, meow at walls and generally act insane. But then in the quieter moments he'll walk in with his "toy" fish in his mouth meowing all sweetly and carefully drop it on the floor and lay next to it. He has so many sides to him.
The other cat is just sweet. Very rarely she'll do the above psychotic behaviour but mostly she just wants cuddles.
I love the differences. Dog's are totally different and I wouldn't say one is better than the other, just different. I'd have a dog aswell if I could, makes it hard when you rent.

To me that's part of their appeal. Having a little devil running around the house, plotting evil schemes. I like pulling my hand back in my sleeze and having the cat wrestle with my arm. If I hold my arm out my cat will jump towards it, grab it and drop to the floor. It's uwsome.

When you know the cat you'll know what not to do in order to avoid their wrath.

Yeah, but I feel the same about my dog, minus the whole evil part. I know my dog so well that I simply know what it likes. I've never beat the shit out of my dog, but I have play fought with both of them when I was younger and I would say they walked away hurting more than I did. They could have raped me by going savage on me, but for the most part, they stuck just to nipping and growling.

I dunno how lucky I'd be with a cat. I figure I'd do one thing to piss it off and it would go apeshit. Its claws hurt a lot more than a dog's.

De-Clawing your cat is a very common thing, well, I guess in my country anyways. I never knew people had such a problem with it.

Being common doesn't make it ok. Other than its totally absurd to get a cat then out of convenience (for the human only) surgically remove it's claws for no good reason, cat's release stress by scratching their claws on stuff. Outside they would use a tree so if you have a cat indoors having a scratching-post helps stop them scratching your furniture. Also whenever my cats are relaxing they bring their claws out and back in over and over and over.. Claws are there for more than just hunting purposes.

I just find it really unnecessary re: what Duke said.

Having those cat scratching posts things never helped us with our cats. O/T Weird enough my DOG just started to rip up the carpet by digging his claws into it, Had him 5 years now and never once did that but now he is. wtf.
