A car smashed into me.

Hey synful here is that info i just pm'd you about, Illinois state law regaurding car ins.

Enforcement of the mandatory insurance law is accomplished through a random questionnaire sampling process and the issuance of traffic tickets.

* If you are stopped for a traffic violation or involved in an accident, a law enforcement officer may issue a traffic citation if you are unable to provide evidence of insurance. If convicted, your license plates will be suspended and you will face the following fines:

o minimum $500 fine for driving uninsured
o minimum $1,000 fine for driving a vehicle while the license plates are suspended for a previous insurance violation

http://www.sos.state.il.us/departments/vehicles/mandatory_insurance.html

now even though it mentions "If your not able to provide proof of insurance at the accident" which he did but it was false proof, which constitutes fraud. The guys gonna be s.o.l. if the police do their work, for your protection and as further proof if i were you i'd get somthing from his insurance company stating that he doesnt not and has not had coverage with them from such an such date, fraud is a criminal action, in his case its misdormenor (sp) i dont know why the police are giving you such a hard time, if ya gotta speak to a superior at the police department, dig up all laws an proof you can, hope that helps, peace!

your insurance company should be able to handle this, not you directly. if they dont they they suck. Mine deals with this themselves i just have to worry about my deducatable.

So sorry Syn...

I was in a car accident last year. This guy who did not speak english smashed into the passenger side of my car. He did not have insurance...he didn't even have a license. He was on probation at the time so his only punishment is...He will stay on probation until he pays me $5000. I get $100 checks each month he decides to pay me. This happened last summer and I have a total of $600....

Good Luck...I'm not sure what the laws are in Illinois but I hope it works out.

Thanks ALOT for all of the advice and well wishings.

Candy Man, you are so helpful, whenever I need any advice youi're always there with great information, you're like the brother I never had *sniff* if we ever cross paths in real life, drinks are on me!

Thanks for the detective work Kareem, that's also really helpful, i have to go fill out another police report tomorrow.

Let me tell you guys what a jerk this kid is. I call his parents and tell them that i'm willing to let all of this go, and just let my insurance pay for my car, all I want from them is the $500 deductible, they hung up in my face and said they aren't paying anything. So, to court we go, I want his ass punished to the maximum extent of the law.

Hopefully you're alright Synful, your life is more more important to you than the car. There's an arabic proverb that says be glad that the outcome wasn't worst.

But then again, try to see what your insurance company can do for you.

Peace

How does the proverb go verbatim? It sounds really nice.

The one I know is, "Allah satar", which, roughly translated, means:God has protected you from the worst.
As for the "thank god the outcome wasn't worst", I think it's the same thing. It differs from a dialect to another, as there might be some words added here and there, but it's the same thing as Allah satar really, cause it's the same proverb (if you wanna call it that) in all dialects.
