407 Pound Woman Refferred To Zoo For MRI

NEW YORK, May 23 (UPI) -- A 407-pound New York woman claims she is suffering severe pain because her obesity leaves her unable to get proper medical attention.

Jennifer Walters, who is bed-ridden and cannot walk because of excessive weight, told the New York Post because she cannot fit into a magnetic resonance imaging machine, a doctor said she should go to the Bronx Zoo for an X-ray.

"It's humiliating. I was told if elephants and hippos need MRIs, they have the equipment at the Bronx Zoo. It was like I was an animal," Walters told the Post.

Walkers said she has "excruciating" pain in her back and legs. The Post said one of the doctors Walters said made the zoo suggestions said he "used to do it, but I don't think we do it anymore."

New York politicians have recently called for an end of what they termed medical discrimination against obese people.

For the record, the Bronx Zoo told the Post it gets about a dozen such calls a year but it doesn't have such facilities for its animals.

I don't think one would understand life from the perspective of an obese person unless we we become obese. I think people make "losing fat" too easy of a task.

I am not obese in any way (I am probably a bit skinny), but my legs aren't exactly in great shape, eventhough I used to play sports and everything. I guess its because I don't exercise regularly.

But dont act like loosing weight is the easiest thing to do, especially if your already obese. It's not impossible but it becomes harder than loosing baby fat. Anyway the Doctors may be just trying to help her but they should get the facts straight before telling her to go to the Zoo for an X-Ray.

Once you get used to eating the same amount of food every day, it becomes very difficult to just give up on food. Try fasting for one day...your stomach will tear you up. You could say "gradually cut down on the food" but to "stop eating" is unreasonable.

i was once 500 lbs,and i knew i was a fat slob. i didnt want people to feel sorry for me, i knew i was eating too much.

losing fat isnt a difficult task,i was just a fat bitch who didnt give a fuck.

until i finally put it through my head to lose weight,it came off so quick like5 pounds a week until i was finally in excellent shape and have an excellent body.

i have no sympathy for that fat bitch or any fat person.you're fat cuz u fuckin eat too much.put the burger down.

But even then, what does she expect?? She needs an MRI scan, but is too damn fat to fit in the machine.

She should be glad she's getting referred to the Zoo instead of nothing at all.
