Synopsis
From the creators of Godspeed: The Kurt Cobain Graphic and Eminem: In My Skin comes an explosive new graphic novel, tracing the events leading up to the death of one of modern music's most charismatic performers. Tupac: One Nation Under a Gun chronicles the triumphs and tragedies of the notorious hip-hop superstar Tupac Shakur, the figurehead of a musical movement that came to define black culture in America and beyond. Exploring the recesses of a racist, damaged country, the book takes the reader on a self-destructive ride through the violence and corruption and greed of Los Angeles. The marriage of Barnaby Legg and Jim McCarthy's incendiary writing with Flameboy's potent, gritty visuals produces a new perspective on the controversial events surrounding the rise of Death Row Records, the brutality of street gang warfare and murder. From the hazy skies of Los Angeles to the back streets of New York, this tells the story of a unique talent cut down at just 25 years of age.

just discovered it, looks interesting..

I got that, it's pretty good I guess, the art work is cool. They focus on alot of negative things that Pac did in his lifetime tho, so it doesn't give a very rounded view of him.

They cover some interesting events tho that I had totally forgotten about (like when some guys tried to jump Pac in a gas station, when Pac and BIG met up after the 94 shooting).

They also cover both of Pac's shootings, the last one is kinda disturbing with a finger getting blown off and all :woah:

the crips tryin to test him? i remember readin that one on dantes site back in the day. he then did a interview with mtv bout it while madonna was in the background watchin

I copped this last week, I've had the Kurt Cobain one since it came out, so I was looking forward to this. It doesn't disappoint, it's awesome. It's not called "One Nation Under A Gun", that was a working title, the actual title is "Death Rap - Tupac Shakur : A Life"

I've read it 3 or 4 times since getting it just a few days ago, it's tight!

That's what I was thinking. That incident is mentioned in "Have Gun, Will Travel" by Ronin Ro. It happened the day before Pac went to court for fighting with the Hughes brothers, which was why one of his eyes was kind of swollen, as seen in the footage after the court case in Tupac Resurrection, where he says stuff like, "the judge was as lenient as he could be, but to my homeboys, a fight is a fight, a battery is a battery, a two-minute fight just cost me 15 days in jail" or something like that.

Yeah it was some crips. In the book, after Pac got hit he grabbed a pair of scissors and chased after them, is that true cos I found it kinda funny :D
