2008 nissan gt-r

Skyline is probably one of the most desired cars in America, for younger generations of course, 16-35 I'd say. I'm pretty sure it will be big. Please don't compare this to a Corvette, as an American that is something wrong with Americans, the Corvette. It isn't great, stop bringing it up with every single discussion about cars.

but thats a 7.0 liter engine. i would expect for it to make alot of horsepower. this is going 3.7 liter engine making 450hp which is still impressive. believe me some people do have big enough wallets to buy it. ever been to supraforums.com, alot of them have the money along with all the guys who spent around 100k to import a skyline.

so, people spend 70k on a chevy and 150k on a ford. dont forget its a skyline, they have plenty of racing history. my point is name doesnt mean shit. id still drive the ford gt, and its still a ford. id drive a corvette and its still gm. id definetely pay 60k for this even if it was a nissan. because itll still perform good. same way id rock a nsx and a mustang, despite where they come from

Good points, kid. Stuff like that makes me wish that Americans made better engines. Sure, they can make powerful engines (which I have no problem with at all), but look at how much displacement is needed. 505 hp is incredible, but when it's coming out of 7.0 liters, it becomes less impressive. AMG is making 503 hp out of its new 6.2-liter V-8 (even though the models will carry the "63" in the nameplate) and BMW is making 507 hp out of its 5.0-liter V-10 in the M5 and M6, both putting out just over 81 and 101 hp/liter, respectively. I was hoping that with the C6 and C6 Z06 they would stick with the displacement of its predecessors and increase its efficiency and effectiveness rather than just keep kicking up the displacement, but that's wishful thinking. And if people are willing to drop $150k on a Ford GT (which has had more than just a few incidents of car problems), there should be a fairly large pool of car enthusiasts ready to spend $60k on a Skyline that is ready to rock on the strip, track, dirt, rain, and maybe even the snow (if you've got the tires) backed with Nissan/Infiniti build quality.

But back to the topic, that Skyline is going to be ridiculous. I'll have to admit that I'm not such a big fan of the styling, so I'm hoping the production model will be a little less wild. With 450+ hp, I'm curious how it will perform against a 911 Turbo (even though its competition will most likely be Z06s and 911s considering price alone).

i didnt mean to bash american cars either though lol, i just noticed thats what it sounded like i did. both cars will be impressive though. the corvette is making alot of horsepower, its lightweight, it outruns alot of exotics around the track, and lets not forget its a big 427 pushrod revving to 7000RPM:eek:. the skyline will be luxurious, quick, handle good, and will also will get alot of attention. my guess is that the vette will beat the skyline around the track,

Stock the 'Vette will probably take a stock skyline, but the Skyline's trump card has always been it's incredible tunability and potential. I wonder what the mad professors will concoct out of this new generation Sky's.

450 stock from a TT V6? Daaaamn, that means 500+ bhp with mild work done to it. The earlier Skylines would reach 400-ish without internal changes and i have little doubt the Nissan boys are looking to continue the trend of tunability.

I suspect this new version will be able to make 500 to 550 and maybe even 600 without internal changes. That, and you have the twin turbos shoving you along.

It will destroy a lot of things out there.

the R34 GTR Z-Tune is the best looking and fastest Skyline in my opinion...

this is how i see it....if you're old enough to remember the original version of a car, and you see the remake of it, about 20 years later, and it looks nothing like the original, you lose your love not only for the original car, but you'll also hate the new one...and i mean hate it...

with that being said, i like the way the new skyline looks...i havent seen the older ones, maybe in gran turismo or something? but there's so many versions of it in there, i really dont give.....its still a nice car...im sure the older people here that remember the older skylines that dont like the news ones, it diff. for you...hell, i like the new GTOs, but i was never around for when the first one was released...i know alotta people that dont like the new GTO just cuz it deviates from what the first one was originally..

Boh, the earlier Skylines didn't have to rely on looks. They are not really ugly, but far (and i mean miles) from a pretty car. Its the way they go that's interesting.
