I work at a Toyota dealership, and I noticed in that we recently received a shipment of brochures with the entire 2007 lineup, and there is some info on the Tundras that is new to me. While I hope it's not common knowledge or old news at this point, the engine is claimed to have 381 hp (which has been stated on a few other websites in the recent past) and 401 lb.-ft (which I haven't read on any websites).

MORE IMPORTANTLY, my dealership had six or seven 2007 Tundras AT THE DEALERSHIP from last night up until early this afternoon (not for public display, but they were easily accessible to employees or meandering guests who stray away from the general areas). Apparently they are regional demo trucks and were transported to Toyota's corporate offices.

All of the employees involved with sales are supposed to attend a Tundra launch seminar in the middle of the month, and we will get to know everything about the truck and test drive it with an instructor, supposedly...

Are they changing anything exterior wise?

Now that I know you work with Toyota, you got anything that might not be on the net about the Supra comin out? I doubt it but I might as well ask.

Exterior-wise, it looks just the way it does in the pictures that have been floating around the net. It's fucking hugemongous.

Regarding the Supra, I don't really know much more than you guys. First of all, there is the FT-HS hybrid concept car that is one potential Supra replacement. At the same time, some other guys who I work with say that the Supra replacement is going to have a higher-tuned version of the 3.5-liter V-6 (to compete with cars like the G35/350Z) as well as a V-8, presumably the same one powering the newer Lexus "F" model cars (like the IS-F). However, my sales manager first said that the car has been canned, but then again he may be misinformed, or perhaps he was referring to the Supra nameplate. I'll keep you guys posted as more information becomes available. I'll see what news I can dig up when I go to the Toyota seminar in San Diego in two weeks.

is the tundra v8 or v6?
Both. The standard engine is the 4.0-liter V-6 found in the Tacoma/Tundra/4Runner/FJ Cruiser. The optional engines are the 4.7-liter V-8 found in the Tundra/4Runner/Landcruiser/Sequoia and the brand-new 5.7-liter V-8 that for now will remain exclusive to the Tundra. Even though I really have no need for a truck (and one of this size, for that matter), I would seriously consider getting one. This truck is too awesome to pass up, we got more sales brochures this morning that are only for employees, and I'm learning more and more about it. The Big Three are going to get their asses handed to them once this comes out.

They are scared to man. I think it was the Pres of GM complaining about mpg and letting the "foreigners" takeover. I was laughin about it. Weird about the Supra, a long while ago I was readin Automobile maybe about it havin 10 cylinders something like 450 hp or maybe more. So yeah, who knows, they need to come out with something though. The new GT-R is lookin goooood.

I have a 2004 Toyota Tundra (V8). I have been keeping up to date on the 07. I don't like the body style mods but the engine is nice.

The car you might be thinking of is the Lexus LF-A concept car, which had an FR layout with a V-10 rumored to have somewhere north of 500 hp. However, there have been several Toyota/Lexus heavily disguised prototype cars sighted on the Nurburgring track undergoing testing, so you never know which one(s) they'll end up going with. But it seems like the plan for now is an "entry level" Supra replacement with the 3.5-liter V-6 with a more aggressive setup (probably around 350 hp) then a higher-end Supra with the more powerful V-8 that would be a special-order car. If the V-10 car ever comes out, more than likely it would be badged as a Lexus. But yes, the GT-R is looking really good, I've been watching footage of it going around the Nurburgring. I'm assuming that in order for them to make a big splash, they'll have to match the times of the C6 Z06, otherwise no one will spend Z06 money on a Nissan that can't beat a Z06.

But back to the topic, one of the 2007 Tundras stopped by our dealership earlier today. It's GANGSTA... even in white.

I personally hate trucks, but i gotta admit it does look nice! Do you know how much the v8 double cab is gonna be going for? Like 35-40 grand?

I have no idea about pricing of it, but seeing how the current 2006 Tundra double-cab with the 4.7-liter V-8 has a sticker price of $29k, the 2007 Tundra with the 5.7-liter V-8 should start at at least $32k. I'm scheduled to go to the Tundra launch on January 17th in San Diego, I figure the official numbers, specs and pricing should be given there.

After leaving our weekly Friday 8:30 morning meeting, I saw this in front of the dealership as I was leaving:

Sorry about it not being very sharp, I took it with my Sidekick. But anyway, it's HUGE. I wanted to park my Evo next to it and take a pic so people could get an idea as to how big it is, but I didn't have time since I was leaving, and the Toyota rep driving it wasn't too happy about me taking pics. I'm going to drive one this Wednesday at the Tundra launch, I'll let you guys know how it is. Also, we got the brochures for them last week, apparently despite its size, the 5.7-liter V-8 will get 16 city/20 highway mpg, which is actually a higher rating than the smaller 4.7-liter V-8.

The front end looks like a Dodge Ram, but whatever still looks good. I think I like the Titans better though. I saw one that was setup with a real agressive look, it was nice to say the least.

I got back from the Toyota Tundra launch, and fuuuuuck... the '07s are badass. The truck accelerates like no other and stops like no other. We got to drive it in certain situations (obstacle course, road course with some payload, road course pulling a 3500 lb. trailer) not just with Tundras but with Chevy Silverados, Dodge Rams, Ford F150s and Nissan Titans for comparison purposes. The Tundra is just so much better in every way. It seriously doesn't feel like you're pulling anything when accelerating or stopping because the engine and brakes are just so powerful.

I don't really feel like typing up everything I learned, but if anyone has any questions, feel free to ask. And no, prices weren't released.

When are they going out to dealerships? I have to go to Toyota this weekend for my free oil change.. Maybe they'll have one by then.

Is the Sequoia getting remodeled soon? That shit is nice but it definately needs a new body style.. If I had 40 grand I'd get the Limited.. That shit is a tank..
