I know about Mobile World Congress just like I knew about CES, those shows are for ANNOUNCING phones. I need a phone now. For the past month I've had to keep my G1 plugged in because the battery is shot so I can't use it when it is off a charger. So no, I don't want to wait any longer, the 23rd is the longest I'll wait. I get an upgrade through t-mobile so I'll only have to spend $200 for a new phone, regardless of what it is, only like $100 if I get the G2. No new 2 year contract shit so I don't get the G2 for free or $50. What I plan on doing and what i do on occasion just to make some extra money is this. Say I buy the Vibrant 4G for $200 and when a new phone comes out down the line I sell the Vibrant for roughly $400 and only have to spend around $100 for a brand new phone. Simple stuff. I can just go buy a battery and wait but nah, this phone is now ancient and I need something new. I'm probably going to get the Vibrant 4G and then sell it down the road for something else. I want a front facing camera cus I skype with people. I will like the screen a lot more and some other aesthetic reasons. I don't think either phone is that attractive but the G2 is borderline ugly, and yes I care about how my shit looks. And I don't agree with the easy to root no CM comments at all. I'm rooting my phone already, if I wanted something easy to use I'd go get an iPhone ya dig. With my G1 I've been with CM 90% of the time, for a while nothing touched it, nothing even close, now not so much. CM is bloated. I like builds that are based off of CM but are stripped down a little bit and also faster. Galaxy phones get mad love in the developer community as well so I'm not worried about finding a suitable ROM.
We should start a little discussion here as well. Phones are getting a lot more powerful by the quarter it seems like. Dual Core phones are out now, sort of. The PSP 2 has a quad core chip and every chip maker has one down the line for a release later this year or early next year. Our phones can do pretty much everything. I use mine constantly it seems like, browsing the web, recording video, talking, texting, using apps, whatever. The more power I have the better. Yes, apps aren't really made to utilize dual core chips but that's nothing to be wary about. It's not like developers don't want to use the best thing out there, they're gonna make the apps useful ya know. I see no reason why to be hesitant in to adopting a new technology. Battery life, yes. But dual core and quad core chips are better for battery life than say a G2 over clocked to 1.whatever ghz. We are making our phones do things that are going to need the processing prowess that these phones have so yeah, why be scared of a dual core and later on a quad core phone. I do really wish there was something very reasonable within the next year or two for better battery performance but everything I seem to be reading are new discoveries and that will take forever for that discovery to come to the market.
