Anyone have trouble sending MMS messages internationally?? For the life of me.. I can't get a picture or video message to send to someone located outside of the US. >.<
would email not do the trick? or do the recipients only have phone numbers? There has to be an alternative MMS app somewhere in the market.

Double check your settings from your provider. However, your G2 (when you get it) should have MMS working fine out of the box.

Ironically, both people only have phone numbers.. and not smart phones either. >.<

I just got the G2 and it's not working. Worked just fine on my G1. I called T-Mobile and they weren't helpful. I can send text w/o a problem but I can't send images or videos. It's quite weird. I downloaded Handcent for MMS.. still nothing. I'm going to try Chomp soon. I just can't figure out why texts aren't working.

see if you can take it to the shop and get the settings. they should be more helpful face-to-face.

if that still doesnt work, then i recommend consulting someone on the XDA or android forums. If that still doesnt work, then the third option is to try and root it using the guide i sent you, and then trying alternatives.

im pretty sure its something to do with the t-mobile settings on your phone, so im not sure how flashing a custom rom will solve the problem.

ive got this annoying thing with my G2 that the location doesnt work. cant really detect my whereabouts. tried turning settings on/off and on again. and also rebooting. might be due to the fact that ive gone over my 1GB allowance, so i shall keep testing.

not sure. try and clear the cache/cookies. if that doesnt work, try and get the premium version.

otherwise it might be an issue with the site.

Does the mobile version of streethop still exist?

ok, i think i have the above problem solved.

Pittsey, do you know how to connect the Galaxy S to the computer via Mass Storage mode (Android 2.2)? I've noticed that since the update, the USB mode in system settings is not there, so i cannot select USB mode.

I have enabled debugging and selected the option (in the notifaction bar) to copy files to/from computer/phone - it just doesnt connect with the computer.

I know how to do it on mine. But mine is rooted. And I didn't do it before.

I also had to install a driver on my peecee though. Win7.

How do you get the phone to update gmail contacts?

oh crap. forgot to say i managed to sort it out last week. i had to download drivers for win 7 x64, which got it working.

In order to get your contacts saved to gmail, i recommend going to the options and selecting export which then creates a .csv file.
Upload that to google mail (contacts) from your pc.
Then go to the contact settings in your phone and select to save any new contacts to google, instead of on the phone.

I think Android 2.1 and Samsung's TouchWiz either had a problem with the default settings, or they required manual uploading at first.

Im going to try and take HTC Sense off my mum's Wildfire this evening. Apparently there is an option to take the HTC Sense UI off from the application settings by 'clearing data' and opting out. If it doesnt take HTC Sense off, I think it'll take the Sense Apps off which should hopefully free up some memory and CPU resources.

Confirmed: T-Mobile chooses Samsung to revive its Sidekick brand (updated with blurrycam pics) – Android and Me

I want this bad boy, like RIGHT now. Android is obviously a far superior OS to the old SK's, but the physical form factor of my old Sidekick 3 and more so, the Sidekick Slide, were the best form factors of any phone I've ever owned. So this phone seems pretty fucking perfect for my needs.

Might have to sell my G2 and get one of these - depending on the spec and how easily it can be SIM-unlocked.

Are you rooted? Maybe a custom ROM has it fixed.

If not, this place should help: T-Mobile G2 - Android Forums
Nah, i'm not rooted. I don't see a benefit at this point. Maybe later on. My phone (outside of refusing to send MMS outside of America) works just fine. No complaints from me.

Sandeep, have you experienced a big performance increase by rooting your G2?

I have to admit I'm worried about voiding a warranty on a brand new phone.

The performance increase is substantial.

I just bought a second G2 and rooted it in less than 7 minutes. Gonna flip it on eBay.

You can always return it to stock if you need to claim the warranty.

I get 36 hours+ on my Droid. I have it running 2.2 (an older version of Ultimate Droid) but the kernel is where it's at. It's running ondemand at 800Mhz and max 550 and min 250 when the screen is off. Phone never lags and is running like new. I'm sure you know the benefits of rooting. But for me, it's all in getting it to the right speed while still managing to use my phone the way I do for at least a day. And it does more than that.

Cant really answer that one properly because I haven't overclocked or done anything to the phone just yet - I'm happy with its current speed and performance. I'd rather have better battery life at this point so what i've done is i've underclocked the CPU speed for when the screen is off, and when the battery is <20% (which suits me fine).

I did run a Quadrant test the other day and it blows the competition away.

With the custom ROM, i get the custom features too. I decided to keep the ADW Launcher instead of pushing the default G2 one back... also i managed to use the ADW settings to alter the resolution so i have more space for icons and widgets on the homescreens.

One thing i cant stand is the 3.5mm audio jack being at the top. I've got around this problem by allowing my phone to be used upside down (180°), but i still have to put my phone back in the pouch the way I don't like it to be... minor issue anyway, but just a bit irritating.
