Hey it's Android again. CES was cool. Android is officially in everything now lol. Some cool ass phones coming out mainly the Atrix. Tmob gets shit of course which i'm a little pissed about. They are releasing some sort of Vibrant 4g which is basically what the Vibrant and every Galaxy S phone should have been to begin with so that's lame. Sucks that Verizon gets everything

To anyone who has done the Voodoo Lag fix or has flashed the Nexus S ROM on the Galaxy S:

I'm about to do both of the above.

And of course a nandroid backup will be made using CW Recovery before I flash GB.

After flashing the Nexus S ROM onto the Galaxy S, is there any risk of bricking it if I were to update again in the future (not using the Nexus S method? The dump files and flashing via Odin got me thinking about this... or would bricking only be related with changes in the radio?

So I just ordered a Motorola Defy, not the greatest phone I know but the fact thats its "Life" proof, works underwater, so no killing my phone if it gets wet. It has a "Gorilla" screen so it is scratch proof and apparenty crack and stab proof. It will be fun to play with. I just hope I can root it easily enough, shame that there probably wont be a CM rom for it.

On a side note, I might get given a better phone, as they told me it was in stock, then called me back 10 mins later saying it was out of stock. If its not in stock tomorrow they'll offer me an alternative, possibly a Desire HD.

I dunno if the Desire has CM 7.0 yet (prolly does, I just don't read up on other phones) but you need this shit ASAP. Benchmark scores are out the roof on the N1 with no OC. I'm loving it.

I just ordered a G2. I'm late, but I'm glad I am. It was only $50... and it comes with a mail-in rebate for $50 :D The only downside is that it won't arrive until sometime next week. >.<

That Motorola Defy phone is pretty cool actually but not on par with ones like Desire HD. It's a "life-proof" higher mid-end phone. Actually Gorilla Glass is also present on many other phones these days - most Samsungs, Moto Droids etc. It's just more waterproof (but I wouldn't risk getting it too wet) and built in a way that should offer better protection but if you drop it from a high enough distance the risk that it'll break is not reduced all that much. It is reduced a bit but Gorilla Glass is still the weak link - it's scratch-resistant (not scratch-proof) but can take only a little more pressure than a "casual" glass. Especially since the cover doesn't even protect it from the sides (that would look lame but really make the phone more destruction-proof).

^You kidding? Gorilla Glass is the shit.

Dell Streak's Gorilla Glass screen: torture tested for your amusement (video) -- Engadget

I've seen videos of people putting the Moto Defy in a glass of water then taking it out and using it like nothing happened as well, it is pretty damn resistant to a lot. I'm not sure how deep of water you can put it in but dropping it in a drink or something clumsy will really do no harm.
Yeah there is a very similar video of a Samsung Wave which also packs a Gorilla Glass display. A guy cuts it with a knife and it takes no harm in the process.
Gorilla glass is pretty fine with being scratch resistant. I have it on my phone too. However it's also easy to break if it falls. It's a totally different type of pressure for a material like glass. It just shatters when dropped. Also it's easy to scratch it with sand and such.
While I also think that it's awesome as far as scratch resistance is concerned there are many people on forums who say that when they accidentally dropped their phones the screen shattered surprisingly easy.

this is how broken gorilla glass looks like:

It breaks easy, I would know. I cracked my Samsung Captivate screen with one drop (I took it out of the protective thing for 1 min, and behold). Its being repaired now though. lol. Fuck-a-gorilla.

I guess my Droid used to fall "the right way" so as not to crack the screen. That just makes my dropping stop, looking at that picture.
