Completely immersive huge 360 degree touchscreen pods of Google Earth...including options to switch to the interactive maps of Mars and the Moon..... screens/displays showing realtime search queries from all over the world...displays of the Earth with realtime lights and visuals of where the most active places in the planet using Google's services are...and a few more things that I'm not sure people are allowed to know about :)

Sandeep, no I'm not using it yet.

All of CM's ROMs suck ass for me. They end up slowing my phone down gradually to the point where the Home screen takes a good 5-10 seconds to load my icons back up after exiting a program. I use ATK and kill tasks and it gets to no more tasks being able to be killed and I'm at 45 MB free. Down from 85MB+ on other ROMs.

This is happened on RC1, 2, and now 3. Fuck it. It's not all that great anyways. I've factory reset, cleared all types of caches and all that jazz. No luck. So now I'm on FRG22 plain but still rooted. Couldn't be happier.

/\ You aren't setting them right.

Thousands of people will confirm that not only Cyanogen's ROMs the most full featured, but they are consistently the fastest performing as well.

If you have a problem with them, the best thing to do is post on cyanogenmod.com forums.

I'm guessing you didn't even tick the "Keep Home in Memory" box....rookie mistake. There's about 4-5 other things you can do to get CM at lightning speed.

I've been using Fennec for the last month or so and I didn't like it.

Imo best browsers are:

1. Modified Android browsers
2. Android stock browser
2. Opera mini
3. Dolphin HD

Though I don't really like Dolphin's interface and option overload. I just want a fast and simple, intuitive browser that is good at what it does and doesn't attack me with shitloads of unnecessary choices and windows that make my browsing experience inferior.
Opera is overall superior but doesn't load images on inactive tabs in the background which is annoying and loads everything a bit slower because it sends everything compressed and then decompresses all the data on the go (which in turn is a huuuge plus on 2g/3g networks because it uses way less data from your plan).
Also Opera has only 1 level of zoom. Still better than Fennec which had none.
Imo the stock browser, especially modified releases are the best one.

Yeah I only ever use the stock browser.

Anyhoo.... here's the HTC Merge for Verizon....complete with front-facing camera.

New HTC Device Gets Pictured for Verizon, Could it be the HTC Merge? | Android Phone Fans

Our source describes the phone as being an EVO in a larger and more polished Nexus One body; brushed aluminum, very upper end of the market, you get the picture. "It makes the Droid 2 look like a kids toy," our source told us. No word on if it is a global device, although… we're betting it is. From what we can see the device has an 8 megapixel camera with dual-LED flash, kickstand, 4.3-inch screen, 3.5 mm headphone jack, and, wait for it… a front facing camera.

Looking back and looking at all those upcoming phones I think that we have never seen as many smartphones entering the market. Thanks to Android.

Also, there are many more high-end/high mid-end phones than lower mid-end and feature phones out there right now. Till this year it was always the other way around.

It's interesting to watch how these phones are taking over the market in a specific way. And making the mobile phone (smartphone) market's position much better. It's almost like they're just bombing it with Android mobile phones and people just want to buy them because of what they see.
It creates artificial needs almost by itself too so less direct marketing needed.

lol at everyone at this party tonight with their iphones and blackberries. some obese lady was struggling with the BB qwerty keys, maybe they were too small. frustration.

android still needs more promotion in the uk. my next objective is to get my two cousins to get android phones. the younger one wants a basic, cheap contract with loads of mins and texts and many of her friends have BB messenger... im sure there's an android app that can connect to the BB service. the older one has a htc hd diamond 2 and likes WinMo and is looking forward to windows phone 7. she knows some of the benefits of android but is not fully convinced. she also did a programming course on the side, so i think she knows java. i will ask her. she might get a blackberry too... they are so cheap, BB curve is £15/month ideal for students.

4 months until my contract expires...

/\ Galaxy S is getting good advertising on TV right now.

There are no apps that can connect to BBM as it's a closed, proprietary service. It's shit anyway.

Ayyyyy, CM 6.0 is final now. No more betas.

And I've fucked around with all the settings you possibly could mess with and it still messes up. I don't remember seeing the option you mentioned either. Maybe I'll take a look.

The Droid scene is a lot different than the other scenes, it seems. CM gets its fair share of adopters, but people love their Ultimate Droid and Bugless Beast. And I'm running just plain Froyo, no fancy theme or options or anything. Never had an issue with it.

The lag and icon refresh rate thing I mentioned earlier has been on every ROM I've tried, save for this one I'm using now. So it isn't just CM specific.
