^^ so would 3 years from now when you purchase a HDTV the right time to lower the price or what?
No what I mean you kept saying the thing that's most attractive in the PS3 is the BD. Thing is, most people do not have HDTVs, making the BD irrelevant when deciding to buy a console. What's the point of having a BD in your PS3 if you don't have the technology to go with it?

Apart from the BD, what does the PS3 has to offer that's better than the 360? The major innovation that is the BD is irrelevant for most people.

Obviously I'm not saying that they shouldn't reduce the prizes. To the contrary it might help the sales of HDTVs and PS3s eventually. But we have to face the fact that we are going through a recession, a lot of people won't have the funds to get all those new technologies. All I'm saying is that PS3 is cutting its price too late. It should have never been released with prices so high thinking sales would be good.

PS. Personally I have 2 HDTVs and I'm very satisfied with them and I know people who got them too. But most people don't have HDTVs and don't feel that it is necessary until they really don't have a choice. Also there are still lots of shows on TV that are not HD yet. There is so much to do before it becomes really worth it to have HDTVs.

Most TVs made now are HD, they will phase out production of normal TVs in this year or so as the majority of the world are turning off their analogue transmitters, so they will have to have the abilities to recieve digital TV. All digital TV providers will soon close down their non-HD streams as all TV will be HD by this time. The date they have set for this will be around 2012.

i havent even seen a blu ray disc over here yet.
I see them every single shop that sells DVD. Have done for ages.

Doesn't mean that everybody has a HDTV. I know that analogue transmitters will be ended soon. Here in Quebec I think it will be done by 2010 or 2012. But for those who will have regular TVs, they will receive decoders to translate the digital signals in analogue signals.

Yes but the point is all TV will be HD by this time, so they will have no choice other than to buy a new TV.

Most tv's made will be hd but it doesn't mean that all tv's at peoples houses will be hd.
More wealthy people who plan to buy a console will no doubt buy a hd screen too but I doubt that many people will change their tv's any soon. I'm sort of a tech geek and I won't buy me a hd tv. I have a hd pc monitor and I know that it's not worth to buy a shitty hd tv any soon unless you really have to watch the news in hd or you have a huge living room and want to watch movies there.

You missed what I said, within the next 3 years all TV will be shown in HD, so if you want to carry on watching TV, you'll have to buy one.
