If you want a six pack the best thing is cardio and a good diet because no matter how many of the above you do if you have a layer of fat around the midsection you will not see your abs.

look what Rukas said is correct. you need to lose excess fat around your stomach to gain that six pack appearance. and eating properly is important.

But the best excercise to build up your stomach muscles?

Bicycle Crunches.Search them to see the correct technique for doing this excercise. i have built up my stomach a lot over the past 2 months by doing these but alas i need to lose that excess bit of fat around my stomach (not that much mind you). its hard lol.

not sure about pull ups. pull ups are more for building up your shoulders and upper back. They will work your abdominal muscles but to a lesser extent.

but, if you do cardio the body becomes more efficient at keeping some fat in some areas such as the abs. so it needs the help of a good diet, like you said, and of course exercise, in addition to it.

here's what i do...

i get on the pullup bar, put a dumbbell under me, and lift the dumbbell with my feet and pull my knee's up to my chest. do this several reps for several sets, you feel it working quick.

like most of you, i have the fat over my muscles as well. not a lot, but enough to where i cant see as much definition as i'd like. my recipe to get rid of that...

go to the ymca, get in the steam room for about five minutes, go take an ice cold shower for one minute. another steam room session, another shower. and once more. i did this for the first time yesterday and i lost three pounds just by that. you sweat a lot and the water weight just pours off of you. it really works.

you may get dehydrated by doing this. or pneumonia. lol.

^^yea thats what i mean. is attaching weights to your foot while you do pull-ups not bad for your legs? id imagine that it might affect the knees.
yea they might to an extent because it will have an impact at the joint. but if the calves, hams and quads are a little strengthened and the weight used is not too heavy then all should be fine. (if using the correct technique).

To do a pull up correctly, you must extend your legs fully and let them hang while you pull yourself up. if you go attaching weights to your feet while you pull yourself up then id imagine that there will be a pulling effect on your knees.

the ideal thing to do would be to put weights in a back pack and put that on your back while doing pull ups. but he wasnt talking about doing proper pull ups so i dont know.

Putting a dumbell between your feet and doing pull-ups is common practice. You do this, for example, if you don't have the belt with the chain to which you could chain a plate to. People do it because doing pull-ups has become too easy for them basically.

Nothing ruins my day at the gym like seeing a dude with a 45 pound plate attached to his belt doing more pull-ups than me.

Jog, jog and jog. You notice how soccer players have crazy abs? It's not from sit ups and crunches. Well they do a bit of it, but it mostly comes from intensive cardio training.

^^they have them from doing excercises like Bicycle crunches and intensive cardio. it a mixture of both.

you have to build up the muscles first. then you need to lose that excess fat while all the time eating properly.

At age 30 Snowman finds out women are attracted to six pack abs.

not true SOFI.. women are attracted to a Man's wallet, green and plastic they go crazy for.

i dont give a shit what a woman thinks of me. im improving my life and self esteem. the guys who dont have the abs can land the hottest women on earth. its all about the mental appearance not physical.
