Ok guys, this is gonna be my last post ever on the board....so lets see...

Im devastated. I cant believe the game ive watched right now was the final of the european championship in football. Im not dreaming, am i?

Our performance was beyond ridiculous. Where the hell was our fighting spirit? What the fuck were these guys thinking down on the fucking field? I swear to god, there are 60 million german in their home country, watching this god damn game and for most of them, if not all of them, its the first big final ever.....can god please explain to me why their performance was so damn shit? Shit? What the fuck am i saying....it was no performance at all.

The first 10 minutes of the game, we were by far the better team, and then....? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Less than nothing. We were down by one after the first half and we expected that we would create some chances. And there was NOTHING!! NOTHIIIIIING!!!!!!!!!!!

Klose: What is this guy still breathing for? What the fuck was he doing in the 5th minute? Take the god damn ball and kick it into the net you piece of trash. Are you a motherfucking striker or are you a fucking faggot who cant do the easiest things anymore?!?!?!

Our defense: Surely this has to be the worst defense we ever had in a huge tournament. Its the 8th wonder to see that we reached the final. Metzelder? For gods sake...please die. Please DIE!! Mertesacker....i dont know what you smoked but hey....fuck off.

I could go on and on...pff...Ballack, honestly, end your career! Right now. You will never win a big title. Just quit. Its better for all of us. And Jöw, fuck off as well. Give me a breal, k? What kind of substitutions were that???? Kuranyi? Pff....im lost for words..

I should not forget: Fuck the UEFA for putting an italian referee in the final. It was cristal clear even before the game, that he would fuck the game up for us in a way. And he did.

Au revoir

He made a couple of bad calls, the replay showed that it was actually a bad call, and all the bad calls turned out in Spains favor. I agree that maybe you weren't that lucky with the referee, not that you haven't had any luck in the tournament though. Now I'm not one for kicking a man when he's already down, but justice must prevail even in hard times, and you are flattering yourself if you think it was the referee that fucked your game up.

I can perfectly understand Sebby's frustration, though. The Dutch went out in a similar fashion, by not doing anything right at all in the match. You're thinking "the fuckers weren't even trying". That's the frustrating bit.

However, the frustrations (mine and Sebs) are different as well. Mine was from such a woeful performance (vs. Russia) when we played so well the previous three matches. Seb's frustration probably arose from realizing (though not admitting:D) that his team sucked ridiculous balls but managed to squeeze through to the finals anyway, and even then failing to perform. They didn't even work hard tonight. Even I was amazed by it. I thought the Germans were gonna be typically German. Either sucky yet efficient, or realizing they had no clue why they were in the final and then decide to play a fucking good match to win the thing.

Yet...nothing. Absolutely nothing. No German fighter mentality. Crap shit.

A combination of Spain's poor luck and a strong Lehmann saw that the score remained 1-0. Yes, Lehmann was at fault at the goal, he shouldn't have come out I think. But he saved a few as well, not the least being superstriker Metzelder's effort on own goal in the early stage of the match.

Schweinsteiger was also good, imo. The only one that actually tried.

Poldi was absent.

Klose missed a massive opportunity and proceeded to screw things up.

Ballack was only visible in a negative way (whining, whining, whining and, oh, let's see, yeah he whined some more).

Frings was left all alone to kick people down. He tried it a bit. Didn't work that well.

Hitzlsperger sucked.

Kuranyi, lol.

German defense:

:S

Spain was good. During the entire tournament I haven't been really that impressed by them. Only a few moments during the game against Russia (quarter final) and this final I thought they played stunningly. But they did keep a generally high consistent level. They won their matches by properly scoring more goals than the opposition.

Tonight I found especially Ramos to be a beast. He was always there in the defensive aspect, and managed to squeeze in some offensive capabilities in as well. I recall a good header.

Fabregas disappointed a little. Xavi was excellent, Iniesta was good on midfield, horrible in the box (is his left leg made of breadcrumbs or what?). Silva was decent but pushed the ref too much. Wise decision to take him off. Senna was a cinder block for the team, very strong foundation. Puyol/Marchena were alright. Marchena was good at the coaching btw. The way he corrected Silva after the little head-to-head incident with Poldi.

Torres did his job. Great goal.

Guiza did well when he was brought on. His header for Senna was a tad too sharp, a shame since that would've been a great goal and well deserved for Senna.

Casillas was important as always.

Viva Espana.

well i accuse anyone that says that Diego Maradona isnt in the top 3 greatest players ever as making Bachaveli type comments. In terms of speed of thought, vision and passing Maradona was the best. Thats the point i was making.

here have a good look at this Duke. the only players that are on his level since are Zidane and Ronaldinho.

You dont get many players that can pass a ball like he could, with speed. You will get players that can play great passes when they are given space but Maradona made the space himself to play the pass.

Careca of Brazil and Napoli once said that it was easier playing for Napoli than Brazil because of Maradona's passiong and vision.

As i said, anyone that doubts whether Maradona is in the top 3 greatest players ever either has never seen him play(i have watched him hundreds of times for both Argentina and Napoli) is just plain bachaveli ish.

Or it's a matter of how you would characterize a great football player.

Also his behaviour off the pitch was definitely not professional.

Cruijff and Pele > Maradona.

actually that video kind of owns you duke lol.

I suppose its a matter of opinion as i said before.Cruyff was a great player as well.a joy to watch. Maradona gets the nod for me though.

anyway lets talk about Spain:

Well done Spain. Delighted they won. they were the best team in the tournament and had 4 liverpool players in the squad. They should have won by more than a goal. They seemed to want it a bit more. Look at the face on Torres, when he went passed Lahm to get to the ball for the goal. Look at Senna's bravery as he went into one or two tackles towards the end. Senna was absolutely outstanding. He doenst just sit as a holding midfielder. he pushes forward with the play a la Roy Keane. Xavi was great as well. Ramos had a good game as did Torres and Iniesta. Marchena was very good at the back. Ballack and Schweinsteiger didnt have the best of games for Germany and thus their attacking stength was greatly diminished. Klose struggled up front because he saw very little of the ball. It was game over for me when Kuranyi and Gomez came on. Klose is more likely to score than them even if he was playing poorly.

I saw Sergio Ramos wearing a t-shirt with a picture of his friend Antonio Puerta after the game. There was a good chance that Puerta would have lined up at left back in this tournament.

Cruijff and Pele > Maradona.

His actions off the pitch have no impact on the quality of his football skills.

Michael Jackson's actions off the stage have no impact on the fact that he is probably the best pop artist of all time.

The same goes for players. Michael Jordan could have been a mass murdered, but he was still the best player to ever step on the court.

Maradona probably single handily supported the Argentinian coke cartels at one point, but he was still the best player to ever step onto the pitch.

I got owned by a video? Right.

People adore Maradona because of his individual action skills. The same reason why people like Ronaldinho and all the other circus players.

It looks nice. Although I'll immediately admit Maradona was easily the best individualist out there, I simply don't rate individualists that highly. The crowd does, however.

And YouTube video's don't mean dick. What I mean with "watching a player play" is to watch him actively, over many seasons, on a consistent basis. And I highly doubt any of us on this board are old enough to have seen old legends play on a regular basis.

I'll put Diego in the top 5, but not top 3. :)

And there is no best player ever. Not Maradona, not Cruijff, not Pele. They're incomparable.

Former FIFA President João Havelange: “1966 & 1974 World Cups Were Fixed”

According to numerous sources, former FIFA President João Havelange claims that the 1966 and 1974 FIFA World Cups were fixed so that England and Germany would win. João Havelange was FIFA President from 1974-1998. His comments: “In the three matches that the Brazilian national team played in 1966, of the three referees and six linesmen, seven were British and two were Germans,” Havelange told Folha de Sao Paulo.
Brazil went out, Pele ‘exited’ through injury [following some rough defensive play], and England and Germany entered into the final, just as the Englishman Sir Stanley Rous, who was the President of FIFA at the time, had wanted.
In Germany in 1974 the same thing happened. During the Brazil-Holland match, the referee was German, we lost 2-0 and Germany won the title,” said Havelange.
“We were the best in the world, and had the same team that had won the World Cup in 1962 in Chile and 1970 in Mexico, but it was planned for the host countries to win.”
There have been accusations of match fixing for host nations in the past. More recently we can look at the 2002 FIFA World Cup. Poor officiating and blatant bias secured South Korea’s win over Italy. So what do you guys think? Were they fixed?

1966 & 1974 World Cups Were Fixed - Former FIFA President

Former FIFA President Joao Havelange has made some quite sensational, and potentially damaging, allegations by claiming that the 1966 and 1974 World Cups were fixed so that England and Germany would win respectively.

The 1966 World Cup held in England has been the centre of a number of conspiracy theories over the years. These include England's quarter final victory over Argentina when the hosts won 1-0 after the South Americans had seen their captain Antonio Rattin controversially handed a straight red card for arguing with the referee.

It has been claimed that there was a plot for England to win the World Cup, and the referee from this game was German, while the official in Germany's quarter final win over Uruguay was English. The controversy continued in the final with Geoff Hurst's famous 'was it over the line?' goal.

Joao Havelange, who was FIFA President from 1974 until 1998 is certain to have further fuelled these conspiracy theories by openly stating that the 1966 and '74 World Cups were fixed.

"In the three matches that the Brazilian national team played in 1966, of the three referees and six linesmen, seven were British and two were Germans," Havelange told Folha de Sao Paulo.

"Brazil went out, Pele 'exited' through injury [following some rough defensive play], and England and Germany entered into the final, just as the Englishman Sir Stanley Rous, who was the President of FIFA at the time, had wanted.

"In Germany in 1974 the same thing happened. During the Brazil-Holland match, the referee was German, we lost 2-0 and Germany won the title," said Havelange.

"We were the best in the world, and had the same team that had won the World Cup in 1962 in Chile and 1970 in Mexico, but it was planned for the host countries to win."

World Cup hosts have been at the centre of many conspiracy claims over the year. In 1978 Argentina needed to beat Copa America holders Peru by four clear goals to reach the final ahead of Brazil. They won 6-0 but their were dark rumours that Peru, who had an Argentine-born goalkeeper, had thrown the game. Meanwhile in 2002, minnows South Korea were at the centre of similar claims as they finished fourth after seeing a host of dubious decisions go their way in the victories over Italy and Spain.
