Better multiplayer? How so?

PS3 is getting some downloadable content but 360 gets two episodes roughly about 10 hours each. Only time will tell how good those end up being.
From what I remember it's ps3 that gets better multiplayer.
1. it's for free
2. 1 more multiplayer option

What do you mean how so? Youre not going to debate that PSN is better than or even equal to Xbox Live are you?

Im sorry but Live shits all over PSN in every way unless you hate forking out $60 a year to play it, which I have no issue with. Theres not even a comparison to be had about number of players (thus ease of finding a game) and quality, and really only a fan boy would argue different so I really hope you dont go there.

Right now Xbox Live owns.

PS3 is getting some downloadable content sure, like gamer pics and shit like that. We get at least two 10 hour episodes and of course they will be good, this is Rockstar we are talking about, and this is a possibility for a whole new medium for them, digitial distribution, they wont fuck this up.

I'm not debating about PSN and Xbox Live, I'm talking about the standard multiplayer modes included in the game, which I thought is what you meant. As far as I know you do get achievements for missions on Xbox Live but that shit doesn't interest me anyways.

As for the episodes, I don't know if I would want to play a few extra pointless missions once I've completed the game and done everything in it. You never know dude, it could end up like the PSP games which are ok but not really much.

I'll just get the PC version when it comes out (it will. like always.) and "receive" both ps3 and xbox 360 special contents in a other way...

Probably by then it has alot of graphical improvements among other things... just like every other gta in the past.

Only minus is, of course, the long wait (6-8months) as rockstar waits eager players and children rush console stores to get their copy and lure others to buy consoles, pure marketing and it always works.

Instead you will have to buy a new graphic card, processor and ram. Also imo it's uncomfortable to play gta on pc.
Even if there was a pc version coming out now I'd rather get ps3/360

I dont think it's going to be released on PC anytime soon. Last time I read about it, Rockstar stated that they have no intention of releasing on PC this time but I doubt it. It will prob come out within a year or so maybe.

Considering the fact they will be the size of San Andreas each and the missions together will take a minimum of 20 hours to complete, and the story in GTA4 is said to take 25-30 hours, they really do not seem that "pointless" to me.

And I hate playing multiplayer on the same console, split screen sucks nowadays.

The only good thing I could think of is if two or more people could play on the same console on the same team verses other people on Live, then you could better coordinate your shit. Dont know if that is possible though havent read too much about multiplayer as I dont want to get spoiled.

Anyway, whats certain is we will all be having a blast this week.

Well, it isn't going to effect the main story of the game so it's just for extra fun which is good but is pretty pointless imo. We'll soon find out anyways if it's any good. My neighbour has a 360, I'll just play it at his :p I'll be busy with MGS 4 then though so I doubt it :D

My copy is coming tomorrow morning, can't wait :D The multiplayer isn't going to interest me for too long though, there's only so much you can do with GTA. Running around shooting each other like a hundred times will get a bit boring for me. There are like 15 modes of play for online, I posted the list somewhere on this thread.

I doubt Core 2 Quad Q9550 and GF 8800GTX among other things would have any problems running GTA IV. (and in 6 months I'd probably have bought the newest Radeon, but gotta see how they evolve)

and I on the other hand find GTA alot more comfortable and enjoyable to play with a keyboard and a mouse. Aiming is alot more natural and smoother, not so tacky and more precise. I used to be a console gamer.

I could buy the ps3 and xbox versions but I will always choose pc version over them. They are always more improved on certain areas for a modern pc is more capable.

And it's a sure thing GTA IV will be released on PC, Rockstar always makes some claims before releasing the console version to sell more copies, just check the history of every single other GTA before this. They've always said there will not be a PC version, and boom, 6-8 months later there we go. latest example is San Andreas. Pure marketing. They would be shooting themselfs in the foot anyways if they did not release a PC version, everyone knows that and so do they.. and they will want to squeeze every single bit out of the new GTA engine and that they will be able to do if not on console versions, on PC.

I also have to check it on both consoles more before I buy it. Actually I'm buying a new console mostly for the new GTA.
From what I seen the ps3 version looks better but if it turns out that 360 gets some super-extras I will be stuck again.
Currently 360 costs 300$ here while ps3 - 600$ so it's a tough decision.

Rockstar have denied a pc release for the time being, could be due to a number of reasons. They have never mentioned it before not coming to pc with previous games but this time they say it's very doubtful. It's not like they need the money, GTA 4 is set to become the biggest selling game of all time.

Right now I have a really good pc with 8800gt, phenom, 4gigs of fast ram and other nice stuff + a hd screen and I'm telling you that ps3 and even 360 kills it.
I played assasins creed and was like wow, but then went to my friends house and played it on 360 and it was much much better.

I think it depends on people but to me PC is not made for gaming. keyboard + mouse sucks and it's only good for fps games and strategies.
pc version of san andreas is not playable to me, while I love it on my xbox.
The only games I play on my pc rather than consoles are Counter-strike and C&Cs.

imo it's uncomparable - the way you feel the joystick and you do exactly what you want, analog buttons so you can move in any direction, speed up only as fast as you want etc.
and most of all you don't have to buy new stuff every few months, worry about fps, software etc.

My pc is not a monster machine but it's a nice modern pc.
Pc's here are quite cheap in comparison to console prices, you could get a really good one with core quad and a lot of ram for a 1200-1500$ + let's say 400$ for a 22' display. I have an AMD based platform so it's great for games but has a bit less processing power.

What about Macs? Any Mac Pro's floating around the stadium? ;)

Nah, they've used this same tactic in every previous GTA game. I remember when GTA 3 was coming and I had bought ps2 earlier, they said it will be ps2 exclusive. not happening for PC. Boom, "It was released in October 2001 for the PlayStation 2 video game console, May 2002 for Windows-based personal computers". also later on XBOX itself. talk about double standard.

They said GTA: VC will not make it to PC. History repeats itself. Released October 27, 2002, for the PlayStation 2.
on May 12, 2003, its released for PC.

Same shit about GTA: SA. "Originally released for the PlayStation 2 in October 2004,[1] the game has since been ported to the Xbox and Microsoft Windows"

(Quotes from wikipedia)

And if you think they won't release it for PC "cause they don't need money" well.. there is not a single succesful company in the world today, that does not do everything in its power to win even a single cent on something.

Yeah, they have a dozen other projects in the works too, that's why I wrote that so even if it they do, it wont be out for a while. It's going to take a little while to get it over on to pc but you're prob right, I'd be surprised if it didn't make it to the pc either. Everybody knew San Andreas was coming for Xbox though and I'm not so sure about the others either. From what I remember SA was a timed exclusive, don't know about the Vice City pc release quote.

okay I just chatted with the dude who nearly passed gta4 on his 360 and when I asked about "what's bad in this game" he said that textures loading times are a disaster. He said that he already loaded it on his hard drive and in-game loading times are much faster now but still textures load slowly. He also said that the graphics is not THAT dope compared to other modern 360 games.
