Sam Houser on GTA 5!

Rockstar: GTA V Could Be Too Large for Xbox 360
Rockstar co-founder Sam (no, not Dan) Houser doesn't know if the next Grand Theft Auto title after IV will properly fit onto the 360's standard-sized discs.

"One of the problems with the 360, and it affects games like Grand Theft Auto if you think about how much content we put in the actual machine, is the fact that they don't have a significantly larger storage medium than the previous systems. It's a slightly bigger DVD disc," Houser told 1up.

Then take into account that not all Xbox 360s come with a hard drive. It's here that things get super sticky. "The 360 is going to have to get 'round this issue we're talking about...hopefully, they're going to adopt one of those in the next year or so, because it's going to become more of an issue. If we're filling up the disc right now, where are we going? It's not like our games are going to get any smaller."

The delay heard round the world was mostly credited to technical issues during IV's development. Some said the 360 didn't have enough space to hold the game; others heard that the PS3 version was having big problems of its own. Whatever the case, Houser isn't telling. "Both machines are absolutely fantastic, but they both come with strengths and weaknesses. The strength of the 360 is a very, very accessible, familiar, effective environment to work in. You're making the game from the get-go, everyone understands its PC environment -- boom, off we go. It's pretty good."

Development on the PS3 version wasn't too smooth early on, however. "I think it was challenging for a lot of companies, but it's also a machine where, now that we've got comfortable with it -- I don't want to say we've cracked it, but we've got comfortable with it -- we know we can make our games."

Many have posed a big question that's on my mind, for sure: Does either version look better than the other? "There's a slight difference in the way they look," Houser admitted. "I think that's to do with really low-level technical stuff that I'm not the guy to explain. The 360 games have a certain look to them; PS3 games have a certain look to them. I like the way [the PS3] renders." He concluded, "There's a certain kind of softness without being blurry -- some warmth to it -- and then there's a certain more clinical element to how the 360 looks."

Microsoft will lose millions making it work before they let the PS3 have it exclusively. Probably ship an extra hard drive with the game lol.

Either that or they will just split it over multiple discs, or force those with no hard drive to go out and buy one, fucking cheap skates anyway.

There's a rumor going around that Rockstar are going to make the next GTA a PS3 exclusive but nothing is confirmed yet.

Rockstar Games Beyond GTA IV To Be PS3 Exclusive

February 25, 2008

According to reports, all future games from Rockstar beyond Grand Theft Auto IV will be exclusive to the PS3. GTA IV is slated to release in April on the Xbox 360 and PS3, but that may be all the love Xbox 360 owners get from Rockstar.Washington (dbTechno) - According to reports, all future games from Rockstar beyond Grand Theft Auto IV will be exclusive to the PS3. GTA IV is slated to release in April on the Xbox 360 and PS3, but that may be all the love Xbox 360 owners get from Rockstar.

They stated in a report in Play Magazine “The game is both PS3 and 360, but Rockstar has suggested that all further game development is going to be PS3 exclusive.”

This has led many to believe that Rockstar is planning to once again be an exclusive developer for the Sony camp with all future games.

This is still a rumor at this point, but it is definitely something to take under consideration.

Rockstar putting out the past Grand Theft Auto releases on the PS2 gave the Sony console a huge advantage over the original Xbox console.

This has also led some ot speculate that Sony has put together another deal with Rockstar to get all future Grand Theft Auto titles exclusive to the PS3, much like they had with the PS2.

Only time will tell, but it is interesting to say the least.

Actually, I hope it does become PS3 exclusive. I always prefer exclusive games because it allows the developers to focus on one piece of hardware and push the limits further.

In my opinion COD5 should be 360 exclusive and GTA5 should be PS3 exclusive.

GTA 4 has leaked

RockStar Scared of GTA IV Leak Before Launch - Monitors Online Play
We received information this was sent to people who get GTA IV early ... it seems like they are making sure that even if the game was leaked online prior launch it will not be usable online and achievements will stay hidden:
Xbox 360 Version:
We need your Gamertag because Microsoft will be helping Rockstar Games monitor access to the online modes up to release date. Because of this, we will need to add your Gamertag to the approved list of gamers who can play online prior to release. In addition to supplying this information, if you do intend to go online before April 29th, you will need to change a couple of the basic settings on your Xbox 360 and keep these settings like this till the game comes out, otherwise other people will be able to see your achievements list for GTA IV (even if you are playing another game) and we'd like to keep that information back for the fans. You will have to switch your profile to private and appear off line. We have attached a document that explains exactly how you do this just in case.

PS3 Version:
There are no privacy settings that can be set on the PS3 but we will still be tracking who is going on line so again it will make it easier for us to identify you as a genuine user if we have your ID.

MS is really taking this serious . I really think that this is aimed at the 360 bootleggers

Damn I wish there was a PS3 mod GrrRRr I'd still buy anyways.

Wow, yeah MS is really taking this seriously. I can't get mine early, my cousin is a manager at a Gamestop and he assured me (even though I have it pre-ordered) that he would surely get fired if he sold it to me now.

Plus unless it's a mom and pop store, it's not in the retail's system yet, so you couldn't get it anyways. But bootleggers find a way.

We allowed to post game links? Dudes have been playing it all day and posting about it on another forum. I'm still avoiding all the major info, I haven't read most of the shit I've posted on here, just small articles, no previews or reviews lol

I would've downloaded it too if there was a PS3 mod, but still would have bought it for the collection :D I bought all the games since the third.
