WWE Royal Rumble (SPOILERS)

Did anyone, anywhere, predict an early Cena return? I know I didn't.

I know I'm in the minority, but I'm so glad he won it ahead of Triple H. Hopefully he challenges Edge, though.

Yeah, Cena returns and is still booked like a powerhouse in his first return match back. I guess we know who is going home with championship gold at WrestleMania. WWE-We Are Booking!

New York crowds are always a bunch of pricks. They popped huge for Cena's return, then collectively remembered that they're supposed to hate him and started booing.

As if Triple H vs. Randy Orton is a dream match that we haven't seen a million times before :sleepy:

thinking back on it this royal rumble is probably the best one since 2001 IMO, it was full of big name superstars, a few cool surprises and a big return.

also did anyone else find it weird Finlay got DQ'd. i swear anything used to go in the royal rumble.

No one simply cares about Jericho and anything he does. The best thing about the JBL-Jericho feud was JBL's promos. Y2J wasted his return coming back to the WWE. He should've went to go help out ROH or TNA. They would've benefitted more plus he wouldn't have looked so stupid thinking his return was going to shake WWE and wrestling. He's already being depushed. I'm glad the crowd let him have it yesterday. Maybe he'll do something to appeal again. JBL's return was much better than his. Jericho=stepping stone for JBL's return.

And did anyone notice that Hornswoggle wasn't eliminated from the Rumble? This means that somehow Horny will be in the Road To WM picture. I can see the E creating a stupid angle, where Vince will try to get Hornswoggle in the title picture. I wouldn't be surprised if Hornswoggle vs. Cena vs. Orton would headline WrestleMania. Or Hornswoggle vs. Cena. Anything can happen in the WWE.

they need to turn Y2J heel, thats where he does his best work
Yeah, Y2J would be a good heel. But he'll be so good at that heel role that he could start getting over with the crowd again. And once he's over as a crowd favorite, the WWE might want to turn him into a corny face again and cause him to get booed. Never ending cycle.

I don't think they'll do that though. WWE goes against what the people like such as Cena not being a heel yet despite the boos. I think Y2J will remain a face and be in the IC division within a few months.

A couple of appearances for Ring of Honor wouldn't have been bad, but you can't make your long awaited return to pro wrestling for a promotion that most American wrestling fans don't know/care about.

And WWE were in a tough position when they brought him back. He had to feud with the champion, but they didn't want to take the belt off Orton. They had to move him away from the title, and JBL is a pretty good choice. They can both put on great promos, and Jericho can go over without having to worry about damaging JBL.

I'm glad the crowd let him have it yesterday. Maybe he'll do something to appeal again. JBL's return was much better than his. Jericho=stepping stone for JBL's return.
The crowd were firmly behind Jericho. He got a big pop for his entrance, and for the post-match beat down.

JBL = stepping stone for Jericho's return.

Why can't you? Y2J appearing there could've made people care for the promotion. Jericho said he was coming back to help the business and to help the young talent. He didn't say he was coming for the money, fame, or for his own hype. Instead he got selfish and tried to capitalize off of the WWE's injured main event roster. Problem was that he didn't comeback soon enough to be the center of attention. As soon as he came back, most of the top guys were getting off the injured list and they shoved him to the back.

Exactly, he was a stepping stone for Orton and still is. The only reason he's not in the main event picture is because of guys like HHH and because of so many backstage politics. The guy is not getting a fair shot. As soon as Jericho comes back, all of a sudden they decide to move midcarder Jeff Hardy into the contender slot/main event picture. What the fuck type of shit is that? And with the JBL feud, Jericho's promos have been sucking. No one cared for his promo on Raw, where he described how his kid asked him if he was a coward. He barely got a reaction. You can make as many excuses as you want for the WWE, but Jericho's return so far has been lackluster.

Notice how you said for the entrance and post match beat down, which means the crowd was sleep inbetween the entrance and post match, showing that everyone was sleep during the actual match. Yeah Jericho's return actual has people on their feet that they pay attention to his matches.

And  at you trying to convince yourself that Y2J has any stepping stones. He'll be down to midcard anytime soon. So far, JBL is the one that seems to be getting more over with the feud, while Jericho is continuing to look lackluster and making himself look more credible of not being a true main event guy. Just give it up!

Jericho showing up in RoH wouldn't have suddenly given them a huge boost. Didn't happen when Eddie went there, or when Foley went there or when Matt Hardy went there. Would have been a nice rub for the company, but there's no way Jericho would work for ROH regularly. He has a family to support.

Jericho is a pro wrestler, and pro wrestlers want to ply their trade at the highest level. If he had to choose between wrestling at WrestleMania with one million viewers, or for ROH or TNA show with far, far fewer viewers, who wouldn't choose WWE? It's not all about money, but don't forget that this is the man's job.

The only reason he's not in the main event picture is because of guys like HHH and because of so many backstage politics. The guy is not getting a fair shot.
Just because he's not feuding with Orton doesn't mean his not a main eventer. When was the last time Triple H held the belt (excluding No Mercy)? Once Jericho's done with JBL, they will (hopefully) keep him at the top of the card.

As soon as Jericho comes back, all of a sudden they decide to move midcarder Jeff Hardy into the contender slot/main event picture. What the fuck type of shit is that?
Jeff Hardy is over. If anything, he should be the WWE Champion right now. His momentum was such that they really, really should have put the belt on him. I don't know why you can't see that because for 99% of the people I've spoken to, the only negative about the Rumble show was that Orton retained. I can't remember the last time I've watched a title match and REALLY wanted one guy to win. Not because I hated the other guy, but because it was just right. Probably Benoit at WrestleMania XX.

He was up against a rusty, overweight 41-year-old who - at his absolute peak - was only passable in the ring, and they were only given 10 minutes. Jericho was a little sloppy, but how the fuck can you blame him for what you perceive as an underwhelming crowd reaction?
