I Need to Change My Lifestyle Soon

Ok, I'm beginning to think about my health and lifestyle lately and I realized that although I feel fine and healthy, the way I'm going right now I'm not going to live to be very old.

It sounds really bad but I pretty much spend the majority of my money on booze, cigarettes and Texas Hold 'Em (gambling). Moreover, I dont' eat well (as I mentioned in a thread that got way out of control and turned into a Militant anti-meat proclamation....wait, not Militant, but Casey Rain. I'm still not sure why he changed his name because I thought Militant was a pretty good username). I also do not exercise and because of my work schedule I constantly work different shifts and go to sleep at very different times. Basically, I'll get 4 hours of sleep one night, then 10 the next, then 5-6, then 3, then 12....it can't be healthy. I think my main issue is that I've been out of college now for nearly 2 years but I'm not willing to set aside that college lifestyle that I grew to love and adapt to (I hate ending sentences with prepositions but I dont' feel like re-wording that last sentence).

Am I alone here? I can't be, right? Someone please tell me they have a similar lifestyle and that they're not dead yet.

Quit smoking. It'll be the best thing you'll ever do for your health.

Quit gambling. It'll be the best thing you'll do for your wallet.

You are not going to die. You are just seriously harming your body and are going to die about 20 years before what you could've lived.

What's more important having a great time drinking and smoking and gambling or seeing your grandchildren grow up.

It's up to the individual.

However, If you want to maintain this lifestyle i'd suggest at least eating right. Eat 5 times a day but in smaller portions.

It definitely does not help that your work shifts are so fucked up but if you want to be healthy and live a long life somethings' gotta give.

i came to the same conclusion some time ago, for many of the same reason plus heart disease and high cholesterol run on both my mother and fathers side of the family so at the rate i was going i would have had my first heart attack before i was 35.

i rarely eat fast food anymore unless it's subway and maybe once every other month pizza. i've started working out on a regular since Feb. , i stopped smoking long ago, except a pack here and there when i would go on a long road trip, but i have stopped that now too. i rarely drink. i had a beer the other week and it was the first one i have had in months. i even eat heathier foods now and have become more concious of what i eat.

honestly, i feel great about it. i'm in better condition than i have ever been in

it can be hard to quit all of these things at first but after a few days, maybe a week, you'll start to wonder why you didn't do it earlier because it was so easy.

but the sleep pattern you might want to try and work on that can be a big part negative if you really want to try and fix things

My lifestyle is more extrem than yours and I'm still alive. However, it takes a man 2 change his life and so, if u truely wanna do it, go for it. It's a sign of strength to realize what's wrong and then 2 work on it.

As I told you before, cut the meat and snack foods and you'll instantly feel better. Eat 5 portions of fruits/vegetables and at least a couple of litres of water a day, not soda, not flavored water, not even carbonated water, just straight up water.

then you'll be healthy enough to indulge in other vices, whether its smoking, drinking, whatever, just keep up the healthy eating and water and as long as you're not smoking more than 20 cigarettes a day and drinking a bottle of hard liquor every day you'll be fine.

I have irregular sleep patterns as well. you get used to it after a while, just make sure you're getting GOOD sleep when you do get it. Turn off your lights and electrical devices, don't smoke or eat too much before you go to bed, drink another pint of water before you hit the sack and clear your mind of all thoughts.

as for my username thing, i've been debating making a thread, but basically I felt my username no longer reflected my personal belief system and moreso anything to do with my personality at all, anymore. I've been on this board for 7 years and had that name for 6 (I changed it once a year into being here), and obviously my current 20 year old self is very far removed from my 14 year old self.

Militant is a shadow for the most part, he may make his return every now and then, and if he does you'll know about it. But Militant is only part of the multi-faceted beast that is the soul of Casey Rain :thumb:

I gave up smoking, I was regularry smoking for 7 years tho. Now I smoke really ocasionally when I'm stressed etc.

I don't drink much, sometimes when I'm on the party but I try not to get wasted as I don't really like that state.

I eat fast foods like 1-2 times/week but usually I try not to order anything really bad. Sometimes when I'm really on the rush I order 3 cheesburgers and a pie.

I drink a LOT of coke. That's bad but I can't stop. 2litres/day is minimum.

Yeah sleeping is my worst problem. I can't go to sleep before 3am, sometimes even later. I usually have to wake up to school at 7am and I'm sleepy as fuck and feel terrible.
Sometimes I just don't wake up to school actually
During weekends I sleep till 3pm so it's like 12 hours but there were also times when I've been sleeping for 17 hours waking up at 7pm :/
I've been always most active in the evening/night. That's how my body works. When I wake up at 8am for example I'm sleepy untill 2-3pm, my blood pressure is low so I feel like I'm about to pass out, then at around 9pm I feel the energy rise up in my body and untill 3am there's no way I could go to sleep.

If anybody solved this problem let me now. I just don't want to take any drugs for it as they really fuck with brain.

Man, don't get me started on vegetarians.

EAT MEAT!

i'd shave off 20 years of my life in a heart beat if i had to choose between that and meat.

funny how i dont recall that. i doubt you even watched that video.

explain these two things to me then and maybe i'll listen. no further bullshity meat facts blah blah, just simple responses to these two points is all i am looking for.

a) carnivores have sharp teeth designed to rip flesh off animals. humans do not. i wonder why.

b) carnivorous animals have naturally fast digestive systems - this is so that the body doesn't absorb the harmful fats in the meat before they shit it out.

humans have a long digestive process. when humans eat meat they do not shit it out until it has taken enough time that the body has absorbed all the harmful fats which will build up and kill you.

riddle me that

what frustrates me most is that you completely discard the fact that there is evidence to prove you otherwise. the difference between you and i is that i dont discount the validity of your belief that meat can be bad for you. on the contrary, it can be bad for you if it is of poor quality, and is consumed in irresponsible amounts. however, you haven't acknowledge that the shit you continuously post up is subject to inconsistencies because research into this kind of stuff is still relatively recent, and thus somewhat inconclusive as i mentioned in a previous post which you conveniently did not address. What does posting stupid videos like this achieve? Omg, so we do not have pointy teeth, meaning we weren't supposed to eat meat? Oh my gosh, how stupid of us to not realise this earlier! Wrong, amigo. It's not as clear cut as this. You just seem to be overtly moronic to use this video as a means to try put forward your argument. It's as if you watched this tripe and was immediately agreeable to it, which jjust illustrates how susceptible you are to easy information.

If you want to start this again, address what i said in the previous thread. I will go toe to toe on you with this one, each and every step.

a) because through our discovery of fire we were able to cook the meat and evolve over the thousands of years as a species. Thus, evolving form having sharp teeth to the teeth we have to day.

b) same answer.

Eat that tree hugger.

do i? show me where.

it is bad for you. the fact that 99% of people will stuff their faces with disgusting ass sausages and whatnot makes it even worse. regardless, the most expensive meat in the world does not stop it from containing harmful fats and acids, not to mention free radicals and numerous carcinogens.

actually, it is that clear cut. you say i don't acknowledge what is post is potentially subject to inconsistency, actually it's right on the mark. go ask ya dietician. in fact, go and ask jokerman.

meat is unhealthy. it is immoral. therefore it will kill your body AND your soul. have a good time in the lake of fire, tell beelzebub i said whuzzzzzzzup.

maybe, but yyourr ppoosssstt illlustrattttesss "jjjjjust" how gggreeeaatttt your sppppellliinnngggg is.

nice try grasshopper. the video was the tip of the iceberg. go ahead and run from the truth.

morality begins with what you put in your mouth.

Anaemia, appendicitis, arthritis, breast cancer, cancer of the colon, cancer of the prostate, constipation, diabetes, gall stones, gout, high blood pressure, indigestion, obesity, piles, strokes and varicose veins are just some of the well known disorders which are more likely to affect meat eaters than vegetarians.

The healthiness of a vegetarian diet is perhaps shown most dramatically by the fact that lifelong vegetarians visit hospitals 22% less often than meat eaters - and for shorter stays! Vegetarians tend to be fitter than meat eaters - as well as healthier - and many of the world's most successful athletes (particularly those who specialise in endurance events) follow a strictly vegetarian diet.

It is the fat in meat that does most harm - and which makes meat eating an even bigger health hazard than smoking - but don't think you can avoid the dangers simply by avoiding red meat because you cannot. If you want to eat a truly healthy diet then you must give up eating meat completely.
